    Oil on spark plug!

Hi I have a t-lll engine that has new rings and bearings, stock bore! with a total rebuilt head, the compression in all four cylinders is 158 psi. it blows a little blue smoke out the tailpipe. all the spark plugs are normal but #4 has a little oil on it, so what should i check, the oil rings or valve seals! thanks Doug.

my 1st 2.5 8v did that. I think I lined the rings up accidently on that cylinder. Eventually broke the electrode off and shoved it through the valve and out the turbo.

Pics of the plug. Is the oil coated to one side or the whole thing?

Doug, it is common for oil to get in the #4 plug bore so it gets coated with oil as you remove it.

Really, never had that problem. What causes it?

Hi Kelly, the threads on the plug also has oil on them, so i'm not sure what's causing the blue smoke! maybe turbo, but no oil in the intake or the exhaust so i'll just have to think about this one!

    Usually leaking valve cover seals.

Turbo seal leaks are difficult to diagnose. Do you have a spare stocker to swap out?

How is your pcv system setup? I had an issue with mine and pressurized the crankcase so bad that I unseated the rings and it ate a quart and a half in 35 miles.

    Re: Oil on spark plug!

Thanks for all the help guys, the valve cover gasket was leaking in the #4 plug and that was the cause of the oil on the plug! so all the lpugs look great and i think the compression is good at 158psi in all four cylinders. the head is rebuilt with new valve stem seals but still have some blue smoke so i have another turbo to try or just rebuild the one i have. i have a rebuild kit allready! i'll let you guys know what i figure out, thanks Doug.
