Does anyone know if original Mopar pistons listed for an 89-91 2.2 liter engine are backward compatible with an 88 2.2 liter engine. (Non-turbo 2.2)

backward compatible? You mean, is there a pin offset like the factory?

There is no logical reason to call an Engine a motor.

By "backward compatible" I mean would pistons listed for the 89 year engine directly fit to replace the original ones in my 88 year engine or would I need to change anything else such as connecting rods and/or wrist pins because of change in the design.
Another way "backward compatible" = superceded part that is fully intrechangeable with orginal part.
Thanks.
Yes they will work just fine, as long as your doing n/a to n/a or turbo to turbo.

so, what engine do you have? year, and turbo or non-turbo?
and what pistons do you want to install? year, and turbo or non-turbo
I have an 88 2.2 N/A engine. The set of Mopar pistons, which I acquired as future spares, is Mopar part P/N 4494459 and is listed on the box as 89-91 2.2 EFI. I am pretty sure the pistons are for a N/A engine from a cross refernce number. So they should be good.
Thanks everyone for the advice.
