Mopar National 2011 Pictures and results!

Started going through the picture from this weekend... Was a smaller turnout this year, but it was still fun and plenty of nice cars. JT's shadow got quite a bit attention as the "sleeper" and being one of the only FWD's drag racing.

There were some older turbo dodges there on the showfield, so it wasn't a total shutout of FWD presence.

    Awesome pics!

Yeah, attendance was down, and it rained some, but fun times all around. Hey, with attendance down, maybe next year they would have more interest in a FWD class? ... Hmmmm...

    Re: Mopar National 2011 Pictures

It was a good time as always, great to see some familiar faces, catch up, look at nice cars, watch some races and browse the swap meet. Events like this really get me pumped up to get some of my projects done.

    Awesome pics, MB!

    Re: Mopar National 2011 Pictures

    Thanks!

Yeah, who knows... would be nice to have that class back. Heck even if its a "turbo" or "sport compact" class, then maybe some of those Stealths would run.

Congrats on the 3rd Place in the Viper Stock Class

    Here's my re-cap...

Well, running "Pro" I decided to take the Shadow as it is usually a consistent 13.00 car and has a lot better chances at going rounds.

Friday was open time runs so could have wore the car out... decided to only make a couple passes.

    Friday #1
    R/T.....059
60'.....2.397 --- Bogged off the line from 5k... sticky track!
    330.....5.982
    1/8 ET..9.921
    1/8 mph.83.85
    1000'...11.475
    1/4 ET..13.644
    1/4 mph.103.95

    Friday #2
    R/T.....222 --- ZZzzzzzz
    60'.....1.832 --- Left a tad higher
    330.....5.351
    1/8 ET..8.311
    1/8 mph.83.25
    1000'...10.882
1/4 ET..13.058 --- Right back where it should be
    1/4 mph.103.58

OK, got the "13 Oh" .. no need to beat it up.

OK, Saturday you get two time runs when you class is called. I missed the 2nd call, but got one run in early morning

    Saturday #1
    R/T.....084
60'.....2.077 --- Bogged off the line... sticky track!
    330.....5.608
    1/8 ET..8.551
    1/8 mph.84.58
    1000'...11.111
    1/4 ET..13.275 --- felt like a 12 second pass... damn bog
    1/4 mph.102.73

OK, still a 13.00 feeling car... crappy consistency... oh well, it's supposed to rain Sunday

Sunday, you get one time run in the morning (to calibrate your car for air quality and traction, then eliminations

    Sunday #1 - Time run
R/T.....000 --- BooYaa! My first ever perfect light!
60'.....1.808 --- Best 60' ever for the Shadow!
    330.....5.267
    1/8 ET..8.179 --- Best 1/8 mile for the Shadow!
    1/8 mph.85.35 --- Best 1/8 mph for the Shadow!
    1000'...10.724 ---
1/4 ET..12.883 --- Best 1/4 mile ET for the Shadow!
    1/4 mph.102.88

Sunday #2 - Round #1 - The track announced I was up against a "heavy hitter" in the other lane and he was... .017 light and a 10.24 on a 10.22 dial... yeah, he went rounds

Dial....13.00 --- Yeah, I thought it would slow down?
R/T.....103 --- Zzzz.... lost the race right here
    60'.....1.821 --- but didn’t bog, LOL!
    330.....5.304
    1/8 ET..8.223
    1/8 mph.84.02
    1000'...10.768
    1/4 ET..12.929 - Broke out! Now a 12.90 car? LOL!
    1/4 mph.103.02

After the starting line nap I did my best to stay ahead at the end... .0099 (a fender) ahead at the stripe... when we left, the guy who put me on the trailer was still going rounds, for sure in the money!

Did get some exposure for our cars, several folks stopped by to ask what was done to it "its all stock" ... other mentioned they liked seeing the sleeper Shadow running side by side with other Pro cars.

Fun times! and that’s what its all about!

Re: Mopar National 2011 Pictures and results!

The class will be back ONLY if a sponsor or two team up with all of the money for the total class pay out....BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT in partnership with one of my sponsors.....a few years ago it was the A Taylor Racing/Kokomo Chrysler Plymouth Challenge. I could only manage semi's in a bracket race!!! Maybe FWD Performance, Forward Motion, Turbos Unleashed, etc...etc...etc could manage this. I think they also tacked on an advertising fee to the cost. NONE of the classes are paid for by the Mopar Nat'ls themselves as far as the drag racing...sweet deal for the promoter!
