    Code 52

Well...Ive got this car fairly well done engine wise. Still need the exhaust put and weld in the wideband bung. Anyway...before I parked the car it had an intermittent chugging problem. Never actually figured out what it was. So I tore apart the top end and put:

    S60 turbo/3" SV/ss lines
    mild ported head(myself)
    mild ported exhaust manifold(myself)
    afpr
72pph injectors (yeah way big but its what I had)
Brian did a cal for me 87 TII
    3 bar map

Theres some more but I cant think of them. Anyway, im still getting this chugging problem, however it pulled code 52 on me this time. I can smell gas so I know its rich. When I just first took it out it went pretty good. I gave it a little gas and went into boost about 5psi, its manifold vacuum at the moment. Well after that it really started chugging and making itself almost un driveable.

(Each individual pin has been tightened on the LM as well as the solder joints for the socket redone. Has new plugs, wires, cap, rotor hep, coil on it.)

Vacuum is around the 14ish range. A little lower than im used to. Timing is also on nicely, when its not chugging, it can be revved right through the powerband with no issues.

That's clever, I can never tell the difference between rich and misfire with just my nose....

Its loading up, once the car is warmed up it shouldnt free rev like that. Once throttle is applied it revs up like it would when you first start them. It revs up and slowly comes down. Shouldnt do that. I just assume thats its way for getting the access gas out of it?

Do you actually have any idea?

Also...I smell like gas too. Even now.

Okay, listened to it, I'll take intermittent misfire on one cylinder... like every second time or something. Because constant miss would be like di-di-da, di-di-da, di-di-da, whereas it's more tidididida, tidididida, tidididida.

Firstly, I'd pull back that wire that's close to the dipstick handle and examine it for pinholes near there.

Do you hear the idle change? AS soon as it does that idle change thats when it effs up. Otherwise it drives fine. Ill check out that wire. Once its cool im also going to double check the fuel pressure.

Oh and if there's nothing there, you can ID the missing cylinder in the classic manner. Pull one wire at a time, when pulled on the bad cylinder it will do a fairly smooth di-di-da, but any of the others pulled it will be a lot worse.

No holes in wire. Also took the cap off and the #1 plug wire was not pushed quite into the cap. Pushed it in all the way, still the same. Then it started raining. So idk which one is doing it yet.

Try getting it wet and see what it does, Is the wideband working? Whats it say.

Also, you want to trade a set of +40s for those 72s?

Wideband is not hooked up because I dont have an exhaust on it yet. Its just powered on.

Normally I would say yes, but this wont be my only build on this car. Originally this was going to be down for quite a while and get quite the amount of upgrades. I just decided I wanted to drive it for a while.

The car does skip a little on initial start up if its really damp.

(Contrary to what looked exact timing to me, heeding the request of someone else I actually set the timing back a tooth and it ran a lot better, no skipping. However the vacuum was worse. Like 12?

This video was set up real fast I just wanted some confirmation so excuse that its really not in depth lol.

Ok, but if you do find out they might be an issue I have all my stock stuff so I can take the +40s out and ship them and wait for the 72s.

My roommates daytona had issues with a misfire like that and the injector connectors were all green and crappy.

What cal/codebase did he use? Could be just a mesup in the cal causing it.

Seriously...I have no idea. I havent gotten involved on the cal side of things at all yet.

The injector harness was cleaned when I took everything apart. #3 was green haha.

    Re: Code 52

Unless your 3 bar is actually 2 bar then I am thinking you might have a cal problem. My shadow does that same idle change once it drops out of open loop.

Or what about your coolant temp sensor?

Eh...the 3bar was on 'rattlesnake' so im sure it was really a 3bar haha.

Coolant temp sensor could be an issue. Which one does what? I forget. The little one wire one is new, however the one in the water box is not.

the waterbox one is that controls the fuel injection. the little one is for the gauge.
