    cutting out at 3k rpm...

Car is a 88 csx-t. cuts out/sputters around 3k and hardly accelerates correctly. i have checked ignition and cam timing which are good. tried swapping the HEP coil, the TPS, and the FPR. checked with timing gun that all spark plug wires are firing. Cap and rotor were replaced a year ago (MSD 8.5's), also spark plugs changed at that time too. when I pulled them out today they looked a bit lean. The fuel pump is about 3 years old as well as the fuel filter. I was going to check fuel pressure but our fuel pressure gauge but is not working, so untill I have the money to replace it, does anyone have any suggestions? thank you!

Sounds like you've covered most of the basics. You need to check your fuel pressure so sorry, you gotta buy a gauge. I would change the fuel filter, it should be replaced once a year.

Changed fuel filter, problem still there. Then found the fuel pressure gauge and checked it, after three primes the gauge only read 40psi and that was with the FPR vac line still plugged in. Going to change out the FPR tomorrow and see if that helps, def feels like it is fuel related.

Thanks everyone, it ended up being bad spark plug wires, always check the easy things first! "Doh", oh well at least I got a new fuel filter out of it.
