    Mr. Z Restoration

    This is a 1987 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z, T-Top that I acquired today. The point of this project is to restore it for daily use for work and school. My achievement of MPG is 30. Basically it has:

    MAJOR ISSUES:
    * minor windshield crack, you cant tell from pictures
    * busted axle
    * mysterious oil leak that ate at the axle
    MINOR ISSUES:
    * fix T-TOP seals
    * install stereo
    * fix left button on powered mirrors
    * replace rear bumper
    * new brake pads/rotors
    * new lug nuts

    Re: Mr. Z Restoration

    Had my dad do some testing, he sucks at recording, lol. He thinks the intermediate shaft is shot as when he was doing a test run, it felt wobbly.
    Engine feels really strong and healthy. Boost gauge doesnt work. Here's some miscellaneous videos. Also, the clutch seems to be in need of replacement as my dad was having issues engaging into gear. I noticed minor white smoke coming out, not excessive and bits of dripping water.

    Re: Mr. Z Restoration

    If it's having issues going into gear it just isnt releasing enough (assuming it's even clutch related). I would try adjusting the pedal adjuster first. All you do is pull up (towards you) on the clutch pedal and it tensions the clutch cable, i think.

    Was able to pop in the needle back in place for the boost gauge but I also have an aftermarket gauge from Harbor Freight...wondering which one to use..harbor freight seems to respond more than the factory stock gauge.

    I have the harbor freight one. I trust it more than the stock gauge, but it's kinda ugly. lol.

    i love the exhaust! its just a welded tip from autozone! i need a hacksaw and new pipping to create a better exhaust

    apparently, this air filter hasnt been changed in three years, it looks like a FRAM Air Filter.

    I came down with a bad cold overnight and I checked out the belts, I dont see any cracks in them, checked the spark plugs and they look brand new replaced!

    Yeah, that's the stock tip. I think they look pretty good if you polish it a little.

    out of respect, i dislike it. if you zoom in it seems welded on it by a slacker welder.
    ibelieve a new exhaust is in order

    yeah because the tip is welded downward?? and the dual stock pipe on the muffler seems pushed together to make fit?

    Im not laying under the car, It was just a possibility. All that matters is that you don't like it and you are going to cut it off.

    for a 3 year odl filter id say the car didnt get much use.

    the lack of rust is nice.

    The gas pedal on the daytona seems really stiff/hard to push it in. Ideas?
