    tehdrizzle's 87 Shelby-Z build thread

Since the car was overheating again I decided to just jump into the car and start my build early so it would give me some extra time on the wiring. Made some decent progress last weekend in the 1 hour that I was over at the shop and got the oil and coolant drained as well as everything else disconnected with the exception of the axles.

Took a few pics of the turbo, god that thing is clean!

I'm going to get to start work on polishing all of the clamps, pipes, thermostat housing, water pump, and alternator and then clear coat them to preserve the shine:

I'm all setup and ready to pull the motor and transmission on either Friday or Saturday:

I got my first package from Cindy and the first part of my goodies arrived in perfect shape on the 18th:

    Not pictured are:
    -Mopar Performance Throttle body gasket
    -Mopar Performance Intake/Exhaust manifold gasket
    -Mopar Performance Rear Main Seal
    -Mopar Performance Oil pan ends
-Mopar Performance 1 piece valve cover gasket
-Mopar Performance square tooth timing belt

The Mopar Performance head gasket looks different than what I remember:

    ARP 11mm head studs:

    Turbonetics large can wastegate actuator:

    Billet wastegate bracket:

Just waiting on the second part of my order to arrive Monday or Tuesday which will include:
    -T3/T4 50 trim
-New chip for my stage 5 calibration
    -Flow matched +40's
    -Braided oil/coolant lines
    -Hybrid oil return line/gasket

Took this during the "extraction" yesterday, sorry for the crappy quality it was with my cell phone.

    It's out!

I really need to clean the transmission up, I'm still unsure if I want to go all out and polish the case or just paint it.

All of that wiring will be gone soon enough

There she sits waiting for the engine compartment makeover

Made some good progress today with getting the engine stripped down. I didn't even break any exhaust studs. Both the intake and exhaust bolts/studs were not really torqued down

    Forward Motion ported exhaust manifold:

    Turbos Unleashed 3" swingvalve:

    2 Piece Intake Manifold:

I'm going to drop off all of the brackets and motor mounts to get sandblasted this week and then get them powder coated. I'm also going to start on polishing my fuel rail, intake manifold, and a few other items as well as stripping the block for repaint and then the new oil pan gasket, rear main, and head gasket. I've got a busy week ahead of me!

Just a quick update before bed. I got the rest of the parts from FWD Performance today!!!!

Flow matched + 40% injectors rated at 505cc:

New turbo is a Turbonetics 50 trim compressor with stage 2 turbine wheel and .63 A/R turbine housing in a modified T04B housing. Unfortunately it's only oil cooled so I will need to return the coolant lines, but other than that I'm thrilled with it:

looks good! I like my 50 trim with stage 2 exhaust wheel in a 63 housing. But my compressor cover is a modded s60.

    Re: tehdrizzle's 87 Shelby-Z build thread

Is that a newer turbine, I remember the stage 2 turbines having strait edge fins, or more strait than that.

Edit: figured it out, Its the new "F1" turbine, http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/sh...3-quot-Turbine.

    The new wheels are:

    F1-49
    F1-54
    F1-57
    F1-62
    F1-65
    F1-68

Most injector shops flow injectors at 43.5psi. A normal 52pph +40 only flows 490cc's at 43.5psi but about 550 at 55psi.

That means his injectors should flow about 567cc's at 55psi or 54pph

yeah i know they flow them at 3 bar

I guess I got lucky to have purchased the cracked out +40s that were more like +45-50% at the 55psi....

    Re: tehdrizzle's 87 Shelby-Z build thread

Unfortunately things have taken a change of direction today. Got in a wreck this afternoon and just got back from the hospital (was there for almost 4 hours) and broke my left leg in 3 places. I've gotta go in for surgery more than likely so I'm not sure what the future of this build will hold and I may end up parting her out .
