Day 3 Racing: 9am to noon Amarillo Dragway, Amarillo, TX
Oh snap.. to get to amarillo by 9 id have to drive up the day before, i think it's 8-9hrs. Hmmmmmmm.
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
im so stoked for this. we are going head to head c2xejk. i hope one of us makes it to the final 32 car field.
I would love to make the final 32 car field, however I am not expecting to. Right now I am hoping to run high 13's which last year would not have been quite good enough (33rd?)... Right now I have been thrilled with the motivation getting ready for the contest has given me... I have been cranking through a bunch of things I have wanted to do and now have a deadline to work against.
I hope to get a lot of experience this year and come back next year and be a very serious competitor.
(13's would be a record for a normally-aspirated 3L V6 as far as I know...)
Good luck guys! do us proud! wish I could go too!

i dove the car last night for the first time since putting the new clutch in. so far so good. after 50 miles i did a medium pull in 3rd and the clutch seems to hold good. tires lit up so i assume it holding better than the last clutch.
no leaks, clutch is holding good. i got the a/f to about 11.2:1 on pump gas. i think ill leave it there for competition. timing is at 12*. ill drive the car a little tonight, fill up the tank and start packing for the trip. how are you doing ed?
It appears to be thrash time for the locals to make it. Travis' RX7 ran great on the dyno last night with 430ish whp, but looses fuel pressure while accelerating on the road...flippin wierd but there are other electrical gremlins a a ton of stuff left to finish. John's Camaro has a page of little things that need to be finished but otherwise pretty much ready to run. Pat's grandpa car was getting a hoop and 2 down bars installed last night and had half a dozen CV axles torn apart on the bench getting the ends changed. I think Pat was pulling an all nighter and I haven't seen him so excited to do anything with the Buick in a loooong time.
I had hoped to put a few miles on it with all the mods, but I have been letting the fumes from glassing and painting the spare tire well air out... (The well was rusted out pretty bad.) Still a little bit of tuning I would like to do and I haven't had time to put it back on the dyno to find out where I ended up and to tune in the spark curve...
That said, all the mods I had planned on putting in are in. The car is pretty much ready to go. I need to finish packing up the tools I want to take and load the car on the dolly. Should be leaving early tomorrow morning. Should be a good time and look forward to meeting some of you in person!
ed and i made it in once piece. car appears to be running fine but we have yet to drive it
Sweet! Glad you made it, hopefully you make it back in just as fine of shape! I hope the tune works out well for ya on the road. I'll look for ya Monday.
well live update. im in tx. my omni ran a 12.3 monday and a 12.1 today. hoping for a slightly quicker pass tomorrow! Ed is having some fueling issues that i hope he has worked out so far.

I was lucky enough to arrive Sunday night and hang with Jeff (Forcedfedmopar), Josh, and Jake & Kyle from 1320 then attend the racing on Monday. Wow, I REALLY want to do this trip next year. Had I realized how sweet this is I would have skipped SDAC and saved my money for Drag Week; not knockin SDAC by any stretch, this is just THAT FLIPPIN' cool!
Forcedfedmopar's GLHT today Possibly the 12.1 pass.
A few of the Lincoln/Omaha guys made it down for the trip. We like turbos around here.
Just your regular run of the mill '90 LeSabre....with a turbo 3.8 under the hood.
Jon stuffed a turbo small block Chevy in his SN95 Mustang. Ran a 9.3 IIRC on Monday.
Josh's turbo LS powered Monte Carlo out of Omaha. Jeff fabbed the headers, piping and a ton of other stuff on the car.
Chad's GN propelled drop-top Nova. 12.0's on street tires and pump gas.
This Mustang suprised everyone, including the announcer. It has some type of a stroked/bored Lima engine. When I heard it was a 4 cylinder I was excited(I have a thing for turbo Lima Foxs); then when it went wheels up and ran a low 9 second pass I about peed my pants!
Sex on wheels. I don't know where to start...I spent a lot of time during the driver's meeting Monday pouring over this car.
Go check out the pics and vids on 1320video each day for more updates. HotRod Magazine may even have a live feed in the mornings on thier website like they did Monday.
Here's the photos that I took at Topeka on Monday.

not sure how he did in his class. he was running 15s i think. i borrowed him my slicks on the last day but it got rained out.
I think I finished 6th in my class. A best time of 15.1. Launching was the big pain, much over 1100 RPM and the tires would just spin... Sadly I never got to run forcedfedmopar's slicks so I could launch big and have it hook... I plan on purchasing a set of slicks soon. I have also considered some kind of limited slip so I can put torque through both tires...
Very nice,
