Mahle forged piston?

At any time did Mahle produce a forged piston for the 2.2/2.5 (if I could see the underside I wouldn't ask the question)?
Also it's been asked before but, without a reply, who made the MP forged slugs?

I thought the T3 pistons were forged Mahles. But, it's been a couple of years since mine was apart, so I don't remember for sure...

That's correct. All TIII's came with Mahle forged pistons.

Not sure what brand Masi's came with but I remember those being forged also.

As said, TIII only, I thought Masi was cast too?

You can't really use the TIII piston with an 8 valve head as the compression is in the 9's, similar to a TBI engine.

I have a set of MP forged pistons and they are TRW's. I also have a set of TRW's and the finish is much brighter than the MP's

That would be good, I have the aprox numbers somewhere, but I'd go swirl, higher compression, better flow etc.

Yeah, the swirl can be made to flow more than a G-head, plus the swirl is simply a better head, you can bank on that,

i see it like this, when you port a swirl head, you remove almost everything that makes it a swirl... including the combustion chamber. and personally, id rather have the compression reduction in the head than in the pistons, i just dont like dished pistons, id rather keep a nice quench area around the edges of the pistons and focus the ignition in the center of the chamber.

What SMP did XXXX years ago on pure alcohol and in a 1700lb Non track legal car has less and less to do with what current 8v's are doing Now

Not hanging onto anything, the G-head is old technology. So you've gone fast on it, that's awesome, others have gone fast running a swirl, others on a Neon head, others on a TIII head, the list is endless. Isn't Reeves running a swirl?

No, he's been running a +1mm G-head.

Again... the swirl chamber has much better combustion characteristics, but the G outflows it by almost 20cfm...

This is not only False, it's simply Bad info.....period! As you state more correctly below, some like the swirl, some the G, so I agree, leave it at that.
