    TU 3"SV frozen wastegate

Has anyone had problems with the wastegate sticking on TU 3" SV. I was getting my car ready for Carlisle and I took it for a ride and sure enough the wastegate is stuck again. It has happened 4 times already. I am not bashing TU, Chris took a look at it after it happend the second time, but I dont know what to do already. The car sat for a few months but it wont even move at all. I have never had this happen to any other cars which have sat much longer in not nearly as good conditions. All I can do now is go through all the aggrivation of removing the swingvalve from the turbo and try freeing it up again. Any ideas on what I can do to keep it freed up? I drove the car around a little ( not getting into boost) and then tryed putting some air to the actuator to see if it would start moving with it hot, but no luck.

    Thanks

When it is freed up does it fall under its own weight? Carbon jamming it up, or rust? Nickel antisieze can handle 2400 degrees if you need a lubricant for it.

It is not carbon, It is rust or some type of corrosion. Yes when you free it up it will fall under its own weight.

Sounds like you're going to have to remove it and grind some of the metal away from the inside. When the flapper opens it can hang up on the wall since it swivels a little bit, it gets jammed against the wall. This is especially bad when it tries to open too much.

Luckily the two Chrysler style 3" TU S/Vs I have were already clearanced by TU before I got them. I think this was mostly a problem with the really early units but clearancing it yourself shouldn't be too hard. Most of the work will be just removing it from vehicle.

I can't say for sure this time, but in the past, it is not a clearance problem with the "flapper" the rod which goes to the flapper freezes up. The only wat to free it up is to soak it in pennetrating oil and try working it with a pliers.

I got the wastegate freed up. I kept spraying it with PB blaster and finally got it to move without removing the swingvalve. I guess I got lucky this time.
