Alternate option for TIII timingbelt idler

I have found that SRT-4 have timingbelt idler which can be used in TIII. It is a bit smaller in diameter and you do not need to use washers. It has bolt integrated so that's why I drilled and tapped a hole in A/C bracket. I also added nut to other side. So far it has been working fine over 10000km (over 6000miles).

On stuff like this, I'm getting to be a fan of pressing the bearing out of the original part and replacing it with one made in the first world. US/Canada/UK/Germany etc... bearings themselves cost $2 bulk retail maybe $5 ... the aftermarket replacement stuff is real hard to find without nasty Chinese bearings in... the one I had fail on a non-delicate 8v non interference motor came damn close to wrecking the valvetrain, and spat metal all over the engine bay where it could have caused damage in other parts.
DD1: '02 T&C Ltd, 3.8 AWD. DD2: '15 Versa Note SV, replacing.. DDx: '14 Versa Note SV << freshly killded :( ....... Projects: '88 Voyager 3.0, Auto with shift kit, timing advance, walker sound FX muffler on 15" pumpers wrapped in 215/65/R15 H rated Nexens.... and a '95 phord escort wagon PnP head << Both may need to go :( ..... I like 3.0s ... so??? ... stop looking at me like I've got two heads!

Can you press out the bearings on the stock idler though? I should take another look but I thought part of the reason Lengel made those rebuildable ones was to fix that issue.

Re: Alternate option for TIII timingbelt idler

Lengel makes rebuildable tensioners AND idlers for the TIII and they are very high quality pieces as I have bought several sets so far. He can also sell you rebuild kits for them which consist of new bearings that press in. I myself have used a timing belt tensioner pulley sourced from a later 3.5L V6 Concorde/LHS and used it as the timing belt idler pulley on the TIII. All it needed was a washer to space it out a bit and it worked great. Very cheap and probably always in stock at NAPA Autozone Oreillys etc..

I asked for something 1/4" off from what they have on the site, so I can't just go on there. I will PM him as soon as my next check comes in, thanks.

I used the srt4 idler at a cost of 28.00 (my cost) at oreillys you cant go wrong, I was planning on using the 3.5 one however they were out of stock. Srt4 idler worked out great. No washer needed as stated above. I just put a fender washer and nylock nut on the back side. I tapped my hole for the attached bolt.
