Re: Hot Rod Drag Week 2012

Tonight at the awards David Freiburger eluded that they may try starting in the midwest next year. Even though they did not get the turnout from the east coast like they expected, they had more entries from the midwest and west coast than ever before which more than offset the lower attendance from the east coast. It was thier highest turnout ever, 177 cars IIRC.

Awesome showing out there! I've been following the event on facebook/hotrod.com and you did great! There's a great burnout picture of your car that Frieburger posted on hotrod.com.

So what did you think of the event? Would you do it again?

Did the indicate when the location would be finalized for '12? If it were to start in the mid west (fingers crossed), barring any unforseen circmstances, I'd be in. How about you Reeves?

One more thing...I was thinking about the fastest 4 cyl. What happened to Hubers turbo Mustang?

Hmmm... how do I put a gas gauge in an 8 gallon cell? This might be worth making a 93 octane cal for the Z

If they put it in the Midwest, maybe we'll have to put together Team Shelby Dodge

Yeah, I got the rules I just didn't realize that he hurt it. I'm sure he'll be back...that is a very cool car.

Now you're talking. You could always bring your Shadow if the Z isn't street car enough. (zing!) :-)

Having just returned from Drag Week 2011, I would say that anybody that is at all interested in drag racing should go! It was AWESOME.

I intend to go next year and I would love to see a big turnout from the turbo dodge crowd! I am starting to work on my setup for next year.

Nice meeting you! I am also hoping to start on next years car soon! if not ill return with the omni with a header and larger turbo. that should get me into the low-mid 11s with the same boost.

Re: Hot Rod Drag Week 2012

I have been toying with trying to get my NA 3L Shadow faster or taking my turbo 3L Spirit. Last time at the dyno, the Spirit was at ~300 whp @9psi. I will have to turn up the boost a little higher to be able to make the Daily Driver shoot out...

I need to read the rules and see what it would take to have the Shadow be able to compete in a class like Modified Normally-Aspirated. For those that don't know I switched to that class when I realized it wouldn't compete in Daily Driver, but the Shadow lacked a suspension mod that would keep it from competing in the Street class. I have wondered if rear coil-overs would be "sufficient". I would have gotten second place if I could have stayed in Modified NA (LOTs of breakage in that class...)

PS. Anybody know where to get the adapter that is used in the coilover FAQ on boostedmopar.com? ( http://boostedmopar.com/forums/showt...Install-How-To )

You mean you DON'T have a gas gauge and CAN'T run on 93 right now??? Thought it was a street car?

I use one similar to this in my tank:

It's a 2.4...he needs and oil pressure gauge, not a fuel gauge! (like I should talk being a T-III fan! LOL!)

Joking aside, do we know when the locations will be announced? I'm pretty sure I'm in next year and likely already have a co driver lined up to ride/wrench with me. Once I get past GRM, I'm going to start planning/building the Drag Week car. Not sure what I'm going to do there yet.

I've decided to go a different route and will be building a car for this and hopefully keeping in a GRM challenge budget.

100 and 110 come out of the pump around here

Fuel gauge? I live my live a 1/4 mile at a time... and at 10:1 that pretty much drains the tank in a few passes, LOL

I like that one, works pretty well?

Here is what they told us at the closing ceremony. They will announce the tracks as soon as they can, but they have had difficulty getting the tracks to sign up even though they don't have anything going on... (I think his words were something close to "It's a TUESDAY you don't have anything going on, open the $#% track...") It also sounded like they were leaning toward keeping the event in the same area, but maybe starting at a different track (ie. Tulsa)

I think they liked the "center of the country" idea. They felt like they gained more from the west coast than they lost from the east coast...
