Unhappy Car died while driving, girl needs help!

OK experts, I'm in a dilemna. Bad timing, not car ,me lost day job about 6 months ago. Funds are very limited. I was driving my 89 Dodge caravan sport 2.5 turbo, when it did a little sputter and then I had no power. Won't start, like it's getting no fire. I got code 11, but some mechanic came and looked and said timing belt. I just had timing belt done 6 months ago. Doesn't look like belt is broken but, it is greasy, oil from somewhere i'm not sure of yet. If you're not getting fire will belt turn? Cause it's not. Code 11 has something to do with distributor not being recognized. My car is on 2nd engine and 2nd trans. Motor runs great. 300,000 miles. I've been having some electrical problems lately. Replaced ASD relay, MAP sensor, new coil, pickup coil,. What's your opinion? Timing belt again, or could it be something else?

anytime the motor is turning , so should the timing belt
if your cranking over the motor with the starter the belt should turn
sounds like you might have stripped some of the teeth off the belt (shouldn't happen on a 6 month old belt)
    unless the tensioner loosened

sounds like you have a front seal or valve cover leaking on the timing belt and it made it soft, then the crank gear stripped the teeth off the belt. The belt should spin anytime the engine is turned over.

New belt quality has warped back to 1985 in the last couple of years, I've had belts practically dissolve in weeks with minimum amounts of oil on them. I WAS getting impressed at how belt quality had improved over the years... but recently it's taken such a dive.

Code 11 is HEP related. What brand did you buy?

I would put the engine at TDC and see if the rotor lines up with #1, that will tell you if the timing belt is good or if its jumped/stripped. I hate it when mechanics won't replace oil seals when doing timing belts,

Should have brought it by the lots this week and it could have had a timing belt installed in 5 minutes!
