got the heads on, halve the exhaust, intake, motor is timed bla bla bla

got the diff out of the trans and i cant get the bolts out to do the retainer. electric impact couldnt do it. hopefully by tomorrow night i have a motor and trans ready to be dropped into the car. Tuesday i want to drive it at the latest.

PCV fumes. Older and newer intakes were different for that.

Mmm I like my radiator better as far as the transmission cooler connections go. I have no barbs on mine unless I thread them on. Lower profile and I have a clearance issue with my Holset's IC piping there.

Where did you get the short retainer tabs?

I just thought that the short ones were the ones that someone said were "out of production." I have a set of cut down ones sitting in a box with an old phantom grip.

Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)

    they are supposed to be...

motor is in.. started it. had issues. fixed the issues. starts and idles almost perfectly. sounds good, idles good and isnt even timed.

pisses oil like no tomorrow. looks like its coming from the rear cam seal or something fierce! If i didnt know better, id think the exhaust studes closest to the cam gear were leaking oil too. it drips MAD fast.

i think ill tear the side of the motor apart and look for something obiouse. Im really agrivated though.

if i fix the leak, i just have to fill the tranny with oil, install axles and then drive.

anyone else have an idea on where it would be leaking oil? the valve cover gasket looked alright but i didnt get much of a look. its all brand new gaskets and seals.

Maybe you got one of the cam seals crooked. Did you have the rocker assembly off?

Hope its just something that’s not to much of a pain to do. I hate Victor Reinz head gaskets but I like most of there seals/gaskets they make for oil stuff.

We will have to meet up soon my brother hopes in the next 2 weeks to have his starion going. We will need to work on tuning it. So would be a good time for a drive out to see you. It should be when its all tuned up running fairly strong. Last time it was running was a Low 12's and he is now running an auto now. So I dont know if it will be as fast as it realy needs gears the auto makes for long gearing, on it.

welll i seem to have fixed the random no power shorting problem. Car fires up really well and sounds really good with the new manifold.

Oil still leaks. coolant was leaking but i think i fixed that. the oil leak is minor compared to before but still unaceptable. ill tackle that asap.

tranny is half full of fluid, need to get to that too.

im on internal wastegate right now so i set MS overboost to 160kpa and i hit boostcut much earlier than i used to. new manifold worked!

im happy i got to drive my car home today and feel some real power!

Awesomeness! You got it running already.

My rear cam seal leaked after I did my heads a few months back. Leaked like mad and pissed me off because I had to tear the whole timing side off again. It turned out that I installed the seal to far into the head. I put it all the way in until it stopped and its supposed to be flush with the edge of the head. That's what I get for not using a service manual.

Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)

yeah i fidled with it by taking just the rockers off and it seemed to help. didnt remove the timing side parts.. time to do it right

the front seal is suspect too. i mine as well check that one out. i think the oring on the dizzy is the wrong size so ill do what i did last time.. PERMATX IT. lol

oo and Matt, i would love to see the starquest. lmk when you plan on making the trip and ill make it work.

funny thing happened last night.. my buddy came home with his quest and it seems to be knocking. lol. cant say i didnt see that one coming judging by how he drives but you know.

man it feels good to drive this thing. i should be fixing the oil leak. ill do that tomorrow. pulling a 4g54 tonight.

the boost is sooo much more respnsive and the car is fast! havnt even felt the full feeling of 8psi up in the revs because i have overboost set to 160kpa and i hit that like its nothing.

might have the ewg on tomorrow night too. that would be sick. just in time for saturday!

hate to bug you, but did you ever get those CAD files I asked for? Intake gasket, and exhaust gasket?

Just a drafting would help the most!

Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)

sorry maybe i wasnt clear before. when i built my spacers i was at school. im graduated now and the files are most likely deleted.

You just need to get an intake gasket and trace it out. BAM. Same with the exhaust. Id do it for you but im very busy.

it think something is wrong with my shift linkage (the linkage witht he "big" bushing"

both bushings are polly and installed correctly. When i go into third, its like it dosnt grab third. it goes maybe half way and lets me free rev. push it further and it grinds and pops in (usually cuz im not on the clutch. my syncro is not in the best condition but it never has a hard time going from 2nd to third as long as the revs dont drop to far like they would if i missed the shift and then tried to go back in.

when i put it from 1st to 2nd, its fine BUT if i do a hard shift.. i can actually put it in 2nd but i can pull it further than it needs to go! you feel it go in and then you can still pull the shifter further. But when going into third it dosnt like to go in all the way and you deff cant push it to car like you can with 2nd (and 4th) And if im correct, 1st acts like 3rd does but i havnt noticed it because i do into 1st only when im at a stop.. otherwise im in 2nd.

5th is fine from what i can tell and so is reverse. ill post this in the trans section.

im about to tackle the oil leak too. and chance the oil.
