At that point, that's when you want your weak point to be something like your clutch or axles.
543s are mildly rare, and the older Chrysler tranny parts are becoming that way as well. At least axles are cheaper and easier to fix / replace than a grenaded tranny.
are you saying im more prone to breaking those than destroying the tranny its self?
reminds me of my buddies neon.. 2.4 swap and it kept snapping clutch disks in half when power shifting from 1st to 2nd!
Now, why you think the trans would grenade is beyond me. The only reason people are afraid to powershift is that they are afraid of missing a gear.

A 543 is pretty much the same as a 523, and people run a lot of power through those and power shift.
o cool!
i just wasnt sure
Power shifting CAN do some serious damage and most reserve it for track purposes only. EVERY transmission has it's weak point, so it's not a question of IF it will break, but WHEN it will break.
The reason power shifting is so hard on the parts is the impact. The engine is a very big heavy hammer. When you're at WOT and go to shift, all the slack in the driveline (backlash in the gears, u-joints, and transmission) reverses from disengaging the clutch. When the clutch is re-engaged, the engine is spinning high revs at full load and all the slack is suddenly and violently removed. This very high torque spike bends the transmission gear teeth enough to start small cracks in the gears. This may not cause immediate issues, but doing it more and more overtime it definitely will.
Also, overshifting is something you have to watch for when powershifting. Because you're trying to hammer that gear as quick as possible, you can do some serious damage to shift forks by overshifting (Moving the shifter passed where a gear is fully engaged).
ill stick to my ganny shifting...
im already faster than 50% of the 90s cars around here anyways.. tsk tsk tsk
Granny shifting instead of double clutching ...
i double clutch when i downshift 100% of the time unlessss i need to be in that gear asap. One time this dude was pulling out and i had to either lay on the brakes HARD and get rear ended or throw it in 2nd gear instantly and give it all i had. Car behind me luckily was able to brake in time and noone was hurt.
but double clutching when upshifting dosnt make sense to me
We have the strongest mass produced FWD trans I have ever heard of. The only thing that kills it is the diff pin, easy fix.

i try not to do smokies with it after dr shred blew his pin out
Diff pin savers are a good idea, or, go through TU and get their OBX LSD.
You can also make your own diff pin savers with some sheet metal, a drill, and a couple screws.
diff pin savers? ill look into that
lsd is out of the question right now
Pin Savers are apparently available from the dealer.

wish i could afford a second one..
I'd buy it just for the engine and tranny. I've got too much time into my 93 pbody for an entire new car, but I've got a Nissan VG30E / 5spd / rear end that needs a new body and a pbody would be perfect.
thats what im saying. i really wish i had the cash. to me, $1400 is soo worth it. it looks well kept as well.
do TU puck clutches need to be broken in?
It does appear to have a bad left fender near the headlight.
