great looking car. good job
I'm feeling the new wheels for sure.
Looks great!
No major upgrades have been done on this car over the past few years other than maintence and repairing things as they fail.
Last summer we put a beating on it at the SDAC GoCart track autocross and that may have been the straw that broke the camel's back. Beside rattling and vibrating like it was going to explode, the car began to feel like it was loosing power.
We built a new engine over the winter. 1988 TII block from a 1989 Maserati TC. Forged crank with Venolia pistons and a set of reworked TII rods from Turbo's Unleashed.
Ported head, back cut valves, ported water pump, baffled oil pan, etc.
The Turbo is new with a 2.5 inch swingvalve and a ported exhaust manifold.
In addition the transmission was replaced with an overhauled a520 with an OBX differential. The trans was converted for use with mechanical L body shift linkage.
Here's some photos of it coming together:
Nearing completion:
About the last guy carrying the torch for IC'd TI's. Of course with a Masi crank and rods I guess it's not really a TI anymore See you in July Andy

That looks awesome!!
Thanks!
The GLH runs and drives again. Finished up a few things today and did a four wheel alignment.
We used Venolia pistons on this engine. They're noisy as hell when cold. We even had the machine shop tighten up the piston to wall clearance when all the work was done.
The rod linkage conversion on the 520 worked without any issues. I didn't even have to adjust the linkage.
We ditched the fart can muffler and installed a Magnaflow. It's mounted where the cat would normally go. Sounds good ,dropped a few pounds and lowered the center of mass.
KYB struts were replaced with Konis on all four corners.
So far, so good.

The only problem I can see is that you've broken the gravity in your garage. Good luck getting the car out with it like that.
Well, that was a lot faster than I had anticipated.
Looks great Andy. Max is hoping he can come visit your shop again one of these days!
That is one cool looking engine.
Thanks!
I always likes the Ferrari red wrinkle look.
I was having issue with oil in the compressor side of the turbo. Pulled the turbo yesterday and found it had a dynamic seal instead of a carbon seal. Rebuilt the new turbo using a carbon seal and the oil problem is solved.
350 break in miles to go.
100 miles, no oil in the turbo. I call it a success.
Now it's time to reinstall the AC and get ready for the CarCraft Summer Nationals.
what are you using for a condenser?
