Ran the woody again

I ran the woody last night at mission raceway again.This time I did a couple of mods.I installed a 32"long 2.5" oem down pipe,then transitioned it to a 3" bullet,then dumped it down right in front of the gas tank.I also installed a AEM a/f gauge 36" down from the turbo.First run I could not believe it.I ran 15.77@84.22,and I hit the boost cut out 3 quick times on that run.My best time before with the stock oem exhaust was 16.52@80.2.The a/f gauge was reading high 11's,then low 12's on the entire run.I can't wait to get my custom cal.I am also going to convert it to a 88 T1 intake.I also have a bone stock 88' T1 new yorker and it ran 16.49@82.1,so that intake must be better.Also big big thanks to James for letting me use his slicks.I need some 14" m/t's if anyone has some for sale.

slicks for 15's? The track like ice up there? I couldn't get my 87 T2 New Yorker to break the street tires loose leaving the line at 15psi and running low 14's.

Thats strange considering my stockish 2.2 t2 spirit would break loose in 2nd gear at 15psi. 5spd.


Congrats on the time. So no mods other than exhaust and traction on a log/auto? Thats pretty good!

I'm talking about at the track Vigs. On the street it'll leave plenty of rubber.

Don't forget mission is sea-level,spokane is not.And mission is the best track on the west coast.I 60' 2.17 on slicks,and 2.40 on 205/50-14 michelins.My 88' new yorker did not spin,but still ran 16.49 on street tires.It's 60' was 2.38,but went 2 mph faster than the woody.stock to stock.

T1 woodywagon is no rookie when it comes to drag racing. He's been at it for a long time, knows what he is doing.

Hmm, if you are only doing 2.17' on those slicks i would say leave the line with more boost. Those slicks in the pic should be able to hold all the boost you can make right now off the line. If you put in a manual boost controller it'd allow you to brake-boost it up higher, if you plan to continue to run on slicks.

Yes Dick,but I will say I am a rookie with turbo motors.Vigo I had it stalled at the oem max for that turbo converter,3000rpm with about 11psi,after that it just pushes.I am sure a custom cal will make a difference.Also I am running it at 3135 for race weight.

Hmm... I am surprised it only did 2.17 coming off the line at 11psi. Those tires are pretty tall, though. Either way, great time for a stock car with exhaust. Im looking forward to hearing more times as they come along.

There's most of your difference in MPH. The Yorker is right around 2800lbs with no one in it.

actually when I ran my new yorker,it was 3195 with me in it,60 pounds more than my woody.

my 88' yorker also has the continental kit,that probably 40 lbs.
