i was trying to use a cam gear (i think it was a cam gear) on the oil pump shaft (intermeadit shaft (sc) ) and it doesnt look like the timing belt will line up with the cam gear. is there something im missing?

It is the same sprocket on the 8v engines, it is just flipped around.
But when I do that it looks like it wants to stick out to far and not line up with the cam gear. Does that sound right?
Doesn't sound right.....are you sure you have the cam gear on the right way and that the sprocket is sliding all the way onto the I-shaft? I would be comparing the I-shaft alignment to the crankshaft sprocket instead of the cam. When the sprockets are installed correctly, the cam sprocket will look like it has a deep dish while the (same part #) sprocket flipped around and installed onto I-shaft will appear to be almost flat faced.
Thanks, im going to work on it later and ill let you know.
cam gear and aux shaft gear are exactly the same. so if you're having an alignment issue, then you are assembling incorrectly.
