    18x8 on a Daytona

Hey guys. I'm looking to get some wheels this summer for my daytona and am trying to get some fitment answers. The wheels I want are TSW Vortex 18x8 with a 35mm offset. I can't find any info anywhere on the backspacing it has. I was wondering if you guys knew if this would fit or not. I've done some research and it seems like most people said a 35mm offset was best for 7.5" wide wheel and could work for an 8" wide wheel also. I know as the wheel gets wider the offset seems to get smaller. Would this have a better chance of fitting if I put in like a 5mm spacer? I've been wanting to buy these wheels for the past couple years and just could never get much help on my fitment questions. Any help at all with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

18x8 +35 *should* fit. Max tire you can run is probably going to be a 225/40. You may get a light rub on the rear edge of the front fender/gfx.

thanks for the quick reply. I have heard that it might rub thats why I have been hesitant to buy them. Would the spacer do anything to help? it seems like I've heard that with a 7" wide wheel you need a 40mm offset. Figured since 7.5" was 35mm that maybe the 5mm spacer would help so that the offset would get smaller again. Any and all help is appreciated guys. thanks

for what its worth i have a 19 x 8.5 (possibly 9) in mine right now...i'm not positive but i'd bet the offset is +45..... No Rub at all, but the one time someone backed into me the push on the fender made me rub on hard turns.

Yea I'm getting mixed information. I've seen your car before but I wasn't sure what your offset was. Any way you could find that out for sure? I believe user dave85stang has 18x8.5 on his daytona but he had to push of his fenders a little. I thought he said his offset was 40-something. Everything else i've read has said that 35mm is the way to go for 7.5-8" wide wheels. This is why I have been so hesitant to buy these wheels. Have you altered anything on your car for those wheels to work?

    Re: 18x8 on a Daytona

I haven't modified the car to fit the wheels, no spacers, no rolling of fenders.

I'll see if it says anywhere what the offset is tonight when i get home.

Its funny in retrospect, I spent so much $ on them but didn't even think twice about fitment. Bought them, slapped them on, and drove... now i'm looking for another set (the ride quality on 19's is absolute crap, and i break the tires loose in my powerband) and i'm all worried about fitment too....ahhh to be young and carefree again.

I've seen people here that are running 17x8 wheels on their daytona. So I figure if I run the same offset and keep the overall diameter of the wheel and tire the same diameter as the stock set up there shouldn't really be any problems. Am I incorrect in this assumption?

You should be fine as long as you don't go too big on the tire. I have 17x8 + 35 offset on my car.

Will I need a spacer at all? I would probably run a 225/40/18 for tires. Also, were you able to lower it with those wheels on the car?

My car has stock springs, no spacer should be needed.

Any idea if the clearances are any different between your 92 and my 89?

If there is, it is minimal. I have seen similar combos to mine on them.

Not much changed in wheel well sheetmetal from 94-93... there are slight suspension geometry differences tho, betwwen the lower control arm and spindle changes but 89 type is similar through 93. I see you are in IL shelby_guy04, will we get to see your Daytona at SDAC-21 in June?

Thanks for the info. Waukegan is a nice 4 hour hike from me so I don't know that I will make that. Is that a annual event?

Nice looking ......Is the Daytona dropped any? Wheel gap looks like about a 3-4 finger gap......

When i did the wheels i put on the Eibach "lowering" springs...i put lowering in quotes because they actually raised the height, not lowered it.
