There is no logical reason to call an Engine a motor.

Re: Show off your L bodies!!

So how many Rampages will run a low 12 with slicks( that's just one day at the track, there's an 11 in there if I want to chase it) then with the airbags aired up, haul 1965lbs of boulders, cement, and mortor home from the builders supply center? I'd say that there's pretty much just one in the world that will do it Rampage RT, built tough

The guy at the building materials place was like, you want me to load 700lbs of boulders in this thing? I'm like yeah, plus 11 94lb bags of cement. He's like we're not responsible...

    off the road since 1999.
this car has been sitting in the exact same spot for the past 16 years. I drove it out from California to tennessee so it's virtually rust free and pretty much complete. It has been garage kept in its whatever state.
A long time ago.....maybe 2000 I found the tiii engine. The car was burned to the ground but I was able to salvage the engine, 568, front and rear 10" disc brakes. They are sitting under the hood of this glh

a Nissan box truck inter cooler was added, the valve springs relaxed, the idle pulley mod was done, oil pump changed with a new idler bearing. Motor checked out 5 years ago. Been slowly piecing it together. Might need a crank sensor. The hatch struts still work and are 20 years old. Interior is complete....nothing broken.

I did did have a collector look at it several years ago with interest to buy. He saw a 4x6" rust hole in the wheel well on the passenger side and decided against it. I now paint and do body work.....what was he thinking? Such a simple fix. The cars are getting a new breath of fresh air and seem like they are becoming collectible. Not that it matters to me at this point.

Lately ive started to get it finished, I still need a pcv system and a couple of odds and ends. It's almost complete and hasn't run in so long I don't remember what it was like when I was 17 and bought it for graduation. I'd like to think it would start as it's almost complete. Who knows.

back when it broke with the first engine......I kept getting fuel wash down and no one knew why. It blew 2 engines back to back from this. I retired it and vowed to never get rid of it. My mechanic abilities have caught up with me so looking back i probably could have fixed it for $30. Maybe an O2 sensor.....maybe a coolant temp sensor. I'd rather have obd2 any day.

So so there it is......wired up and missing the pcv system.....4 flat tires, I'm replacing the wheel bearings, and went through the fuel system the other day. What will I do when it runs. I have no idea. I do t need it. I grew out of it and then back into it.

Why glhx. Back when I found this engine......I'd only seen one of these done and there weren't really clear directions about how to do it. X obviously for experimental. Since the the neon engines have been added to the scene and who knows what developments have been done. The tiii in the omni is old news. The old tiii is a novelty and isn't really much popular any more or so it seems. I always wanted all wheel drive for it. Just because.

It will be on the road for its 30th anniversary.

The TIII is old, but it still has the same power potential as the newer engines. Little harder to get some parts for, but easier to work on IMO.

Re: Show off your L bodies!!

So I'm trying to get the Rampage RT into the 11's this year in 2 weeks for MATS(that's MUSCLE At The Strip this year, attendance sukked over the last few years so the promotors invited Ford and Chevy for the very first time. I think it will be way more fun now) 12.30's was previous best two years ago there. A couple months ago I was doing some spirited street driving with a Tesla P85(damn theyre fast!) afterwards a couple miles later I heard and awful clatter from inside the bellhouse, clearly a round and round and round metal on metal noise followed by a massive engine oil leak. Yikes! Parked it while life went on but finally pulled the trans this weekend. Surprise surprise, not engine oil at all but black trans oil! The transmission Guru in Wisconsin calls it "RaceWalk" In fact, he wont put a trans together without welding the race to the input shaft! Got a new donor trans case lined up and the shaft welded today. I'm going from a 523/OBX that's been in there for 6-7 years to a 568/Quaife with the welded race. Had to search the world to find a TIG rod that would join the race to the shaft, the WeldCo 880 rod (Thanks Jackson) lays down nice with a gold/copper kinda color

Re: Show off your L bodies!!

I have owned my 84 GLH for a few years now, but just joined the board today. Its my autocross rig, and basically has been used for nothing else its entire life. I am the second owner and it has around 46,000 miles on it.

I recently purchased the blower that supposedly came off of a charger built by Shelby to go on the car. It isn't running yet, but I am hoping maybe by midseason.

I may start a project log, as I am always changing things, and the car has a lot of interesting parts.

Welcome to the site. That is a super cool car and I hope to see a project log also. I would absolutely love a gold GLHT some day. They have to be the rarest color.
