I've had my Shelby Charger in the garage for sometime now and my wife is pissed.....I'll get it back on the road....I was switching it over to a Turbo2 setup....the funny thing is I have all the parts! I just need 30 hrs in a day to get everything done....I can never finish my project due to people wanting me to fix their cars....

Re: Show off your L bodies!!

Learned to drive on a 79 Omni with the 4 speed VW engine. Totaled that car, and replaced it with an 84 Omni that carried me through college. Always wanted a GLH. Got a project car once 15+ years ago and eventually sold it before really enjoying it much. Just bought this one, and I'm back in the club. Omni's were always my favorite, but it wasn't until I saw this close to new one that I got the itch.

So I just took delivery. This week I got it registered, insured. new water pump (Leaking), timing belt, drive belts, and flushed the cooling and brake systems. Changed the oil, and it runs like a top. Still a few small things, like no ac. In Florida that's important, but it will come sometime soon. I love this car.

I'm very pleased with how it turned out.
This is absolutely beautiful. Is that the stock color? Mine is the lighter silver with the two-tone stripes. I'd love to see more pictures, is there a build thread?
I'm debating on selling or restoring mine...

Thanks. No, it's not the stock color. It's close, but has a lot more depth and fire to it. I used Kirker medium charcoal grey metallic. I have a build thread, but it's on the other site: http://www.turbododge.com/forums/f4/...uth-scamp.html

I have a few pictures here in my gallery, but it's by no means a complete cronicle of what I did. The TD.com thread pretty much shows it all. Sorry, I was a member there long before I found this site.

Re: Show off your L bodies!!

Had L-bodies for several years. Sold my 1986 GLHT a few years ago and now have 1989 Shelby Daytona - rare in its current condition and mileage - but still if I had my choice, would want the following.

Mostly just a wish list of what I'd like if I had the money to build one myself, but you never know - does it exist out there now ?

    A guy can dream can't he ??!!

    - 4 door Omni (1985-1989). If not a GLH then a clone with all factory ground effects.
    - Wheels: Pizza or Centurians
    - Color: anything but black
    - Transmission: anything but the A-525
    - Interior: factory interior with no mods
    - Engine: T2 conversion - but done to factory specs and appearance
    - 4 wheel disc brakes
    - No rust issues (obviously).
    - Other stuff: A/C. Front and rear bumper tuck. No sunroof. Lowered 1-2"

If you have it - or something close, please post pics so the dream can live on.
