housing is different, you would have to change the pump as well then use the correct belt. I think the housing fits the block.

T3 housing is the same. Only difference on them was the pulley, alt bracket, and it had the divider/spacer sandwiched between it and the block.

I'm running a non c.b w.p. on a c.b. You have to use the housing, pump, pulley and serpentine belt all together. You will also have to notch the oil pan.

Weird. I am using a non-CB pump on a CB. I didnt have to notch my pan.

its easy to tell. the older style will have bosses inside the pump hole, where as the CB one wont. the CB one also necks down much tighter, where the NCB one has a bigger throat, good for porting!

are you sure the pan wasnt notched??? or if u had multi people help build the car theres a good chance someone did that part for you....i dont think its possible to get it on there without notching it...unless you somehow shimmed the lower bolt ?

Positive. I've had the car since it was a bone stock '86 Horizon. It's had a few common block engines in it now, always with an early pump and a stock un-notched oil pan. No special shimming or anything.

yeah idk its been awhile since i actually looked at how its done....maybe a little meat could just be grinded off the water pump housing and make it work? im thinking it was just for clearance to remove the pan without have to take the pump off...did u ever have to pull the oil pan?? im guessing u had to take the pump off b4 the pan could come out

Yes, I do have to pull the water pump to remove the pan. As a matter of fact, within the last couple of years I replaced the pan with a new OEM oil pan.

Balance shaft or non balance shaft pan?

I had to notch my non balance shaft pan just a tiny bit at the flange to clear the stock GLHS water pump housing.

Non-BS pan. Perhaps that's the difference.
