Heard back from the second company. encouraging would be an understatement... could bring the price down considerably! But I will be calling to verify everything is understood and nothing is lost in translation.

Out of respect for the 3rd company since they took their time to talk with me I will wait to hear their quote before making any decisions and proceeding forward regardless.

Sounds like a part anyone taking the trans apart would need... I'd like to get some, but who knows if I'll bust into one of these... that is before I loose them and/or forget what they were for...

Hopefully they'll be cheap enough for even me!

I am absolutely trying to get the price down as much as I can so that even the 'thrifty' people here will have no excuse to not replace theirs...

If this works out (what you business people call breaking even! ) I'll start consulting with a few companies on phase two...

Will be proceeding forward with this 2 weeks from today. Delivery taking place within 30 business days of that.

Final pricing to be announced (still working out final details) after order is placed. It will be very reasonable.

Email of intention was sent..! no going back now (unless I want to look like a total *ss to them)

Final price with them, cost of mailing supplies and just to re-verify postage rates. I should know by the end of this week or early next week and will proceed from there.

Sorry maybe coming it to this late.. could you clarify a few things:

What transmissions are these used on? How many are used in each type?

Your initial post was looking for 50 purchasers before these would be manufactured, are you now having them manufactured and then will be selling them afterwards?

What's the final price, and how does one go about paying?

All of our 5 speed transmissions use atleast one, to hold the fifth gear synchronizer & speed gear on the end of the pinion/intermediate shaft. The 1988 and earlier transmissions use one on the input shaft as well instead of that large nut that the 89 520/555 and all 568/523/543 uses. If your not sure if the transmission uses one or two of these then you can pull the shifter housing off and look at the 1-2 synchronizer and 1-2 speed gears, if they are a single large brass ring its the older setup that uses 2 if its the 3 piece blocker ring then its only 1 snap ring. Of course there are always oddball transmissions out there that could prove to be either way.

I am personally paying for these upfront and will then be reselling them to recoup my funds spent on this. The company manufacturing these is one of the largest MFG's of retaining rings in the world and they are made right here in the USA. All measurements were obtained and compared against eachother using 3 NOS rings obtained at great expense to ensure accurate dimensions were used.

Final updated pricing information is in the first post but I'll say it here. $12 shipped for 1, $11 per piece shipped for 2-8. For larger quantities or shipping outside of the 48 states I'll work up a quote. The last listed price I could find for these was $27 each from mopar (yes you read correctly $27 each ) and they were discontinued anyways.

I will say this right up front and hopefully everyone can understand... unless someone else sets it up, runs it and covers all the costs I am not fooling with paypal. A postal service money order or personal check (trusted people, otherwise it will need to wait & clear) will be my primary means of doing payments for this. This is/will be a one man (me, myself & I) operation off of my kitchen table. paypal is another level of cost and complexity that I am not ready to fool with.

I've got a few lined up to do. Between your 2 and my 2 I should be busy this winter. Hopefully I can find the coins for an OBX to go in mine. Teenagers suck the wallet dry.
