If anyone here has had to replace control arms in their PT or Neon...

    This is fantastic news.

I have an 03 PT Cruiser, N/A 5 speed. At 70k I had to replace the control arm bushings. Typical.

Dealer wanted $150 each for control arms, at the time (2 years ago) there were not aftermarket control arms available. But a company did make replacement polyurethane bushings (Energy Euspension), so I installed them and they turned out to be GARBAGE. I was all excited when I installed them, too, because I had heard such great things about them from the guys over on PTCrew.com. I even made a how-to thread over there on how to do it. They lasted maybe 10k and the polyurethane oozed out essentially making the control arm flop around.

So I ended up going to the dealership and forking out $300 for control arms. Which lasted another 45k miles. I heard some noise a few weeks ago, put the car up on a lift and sure as shyt the two-year-old control arm bushings were toast. Thinking I am in for another couple hundred bucks, I made a last ditch effort to call NAPA to see if they've got anything.

NAPA now sells just the lower control arm bushing that goes bad.
The one that looks like this.

Part number is 267-3665 and list price is $37.64. If you work at a shop and get discounts on NAPA parts it should be substantially less.

That's a hell of a deal! Whoopee! No more noise! I saved myself over a hundred bucks!

I would think the SRT4 ones would work. It can be challenging to do but the parts are inexpensive. Any one of us vendors could hook you up with the parts.

They've been available through Mopar for years. I thought they were around $40 each a few years ago.

You sure? Multiple dealerships told me all they could do was sell me control arms...

But did you come across as a Joe Sixpack who wouldn't know a bushing press from his own rectum or what?

I've had the run around when I've been dressed up too much, make sure I go in such places with my oily cap, or overalls on or something, can get straight to the point and save arguing... because otherwise when you ask for a part the counter guy has not personally heard of or sold in the last 6 months they treat you like you asked for a long stand, instead of hitting the damn computer until it coughs it out.

I have a set of Energy Suspension bushing waiting to go in to my SRT. However after I bought them I heard how much they suck. My buddy who went through a couple ES sets says the ones to use are Prothane Control Arm bushings. I am pretty sure Johnny sells them.

This is old news. Both the veritcle and horzintal bushings are avaible - and have been for some time - from Moog. They've been on my brothers car since 2007.

Those might be worth a shot, I've been finding AC Delco bits are above average lately..... really that's saying the average has plummeted, but I think GMs quality drive has spread around at least a little.

Weird. Napa ones list at $37 and cost me about $19. I don't often see dealer parts cheaper than the aftermarket

Nah, I know the parts guy pretty well. Get parts from him all the time at my shop. He always goes the extra mile for us too. Weird.
