Help! Need 89 2.2L common block

Just had my motor sent to a machine shop for a 20 over bore treatment and found out the block is cracked , so now im in a sticky situation, i have all these parts and no block to put them in. I'd like to find someone in the Philadelphia area who has such a block laying around. Help!!

Not sure exaclty, I still have to wander over to the machine shop to pick it up. When the guy called me he said it was junk which led me to assume it wasnt worth fixing. Before i removed the motor i had a overheating coolant mix with oil issue. I'll know more once i pick up the large paperweight.

Block is the same, hence the name common-block.

Its to bad your a little ways up the road from me, I have two TBI CB's, one being a 2.2 and the other a 2.5 and I would just about give one away.

+1, but 89 TII CB is sort of unique as it doesn't have balance shaft provisions machined in block. Block off the oil feed for the balance shafts and any CB block will do. The later model blocks have more meat where yours probably cracked (between rear core plugs). Would need to drill back of block for turbo oil return if using a TBI block. EZ for machine shop to do. Think it's a 43/64" drill bit IIRC.

Maryland isnt too far, I have friends in the area that may be able to help me out. Would i be able to use all of the parts from my scrap motor? (crank, oil pump, and oil pump/dist. drive shaft, 11mm head studs)

Yes. That stuff doesnt know or care what its installed in. I personally would still have it line honed just to be sure everything is kosher though.

$25 picked up and I will throw in the rubbermaid container its currently residing in.

sweet, i will most likely have the block sent to a shop and bored .020 for my forged pistons i bought for the other block, while its there ill have them drill the hole for the oil return. i might as well havem bake it in an oven and clean the deck. Shoot me a PM with your address so i can see if my friends are nearby, thanks
