    Belt tensioning/riding to the side

NO this is not another 'how do I tension my timing belt thread" I've done the twist trick method dozens of times, this past time I used the tool and just going back to verify I did the twist method again and after about 12 times of back n forth between checking tension and to see the timing marks were dead on I was overall happy with everything and let it roll.

Take the covers off and its riding on the outside edge of the I-shaft sprocket and just off center towards the outside of the camshaft. Recheck tension and it all feels good.

I know it has been said many times here before if the belt is overtight/overloose it will ride towards the inside or outside and not center itself. Maybe I'm just overly thinking about this since this POS has really fought back this go around and given my luck lately the belt will be the next thing to fail. I've done dozens of these timing belts and never had one break or give me any trouble like this one.

I've noticed that when the engine is hot and at operating temp the belt will ride towards the outside; the opposite is true at very cold temperatures.

ive fought the belt on my omni for a while, and it rides to the out side no matter what i do. so ill just run it. maybe it has to be a fairly new belt to get it to adjust right.

ID:	34386You probably already know this but the tensioner is different offset for early and CB. masi 16V is different offset too. Having a CB pulley on a early block will cause it to run way towards the outside.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I think it was running just fine and I made more of an issue out of it than it really was.

This stupid engine has got bigger problems though and needs to come out again anyways... Both galley plugs are leaking terribly now so I'm back to square one.
