Need info about buying slicks!

I took my R/T to the track last night for the first time in 3 Years and on street tires it was like driving on Ice. I need some help on buying some slicks. All the info I have read says slicks need tubes also to run them, but some people I have talked to say you dont need the tubes.

So my question is do I need tubes to run slicks or can I get away with no using tubes. I'm going to put them on a spare set of snowflakes.

You can run them without tubes, they will just require air every time you go out, the track i run at has a compressor (free) for that purpose.
