Well I got the welding done today...
The 1/2" dowel I welded in went rather well !
The triangular piece was pure evil, but I managed to get it in there... The weld isn't pretty though.
Welding cast aluminum sucks !!
It's still at work cooling down SLOWLY.
I heard some nasty 'tink.....tink' sounds as it cooled down.... I hope it work out well.

Yeah, that's probably what messed it up, USED castings will be full of tranny fluid, engine oil or whatever, need boiling or baking or something to get them real clean. Even new ones might have got drenched enough in cutting fluid to be a bit ornery.
DD1: '02 T&C Ltd, 3.8 AWD. DD2: '15 Versa Note SV, replacing.. DDx: '14 Versa Note SV << freshly killded :( ....... Projects: '88 Voyager 3.0, Auto with shift kit, timing advance, walker sound FX muffler on 15" pumpers wrapped in 215/65/R15 H rated Nexens.... and a '95 phord escort wagon PnP head << Both may need to go :( ..... I like 3.0s ... so??? ... stop looking at me like I've got two heads!
This case was dipped, scrubbed, sand blasted (externally) and degreased to the millionth degree.
I preheated the areas with oxy-acetylene until the soot burned off.
The dowel appears to be good to go.... the triangular piece I took out and cleaned the area up
I don't plan on many if any drag slick launches and this car is 90% street so the bracing is likely unnecessary anyway.
I might abandon the ATX and just get TurbosUnleashed to build me a clutch.
Chris said his supplier (RPS?) can make a 2500lb pressure plate that feels stock...
that and a 6 puck should handle 400 lb lbs.
So with that said.... who's interested in a brand new Peloquin with new bearings and a shim kit for $1050 CDN ??
At this point i found a shop that will make the adaptor from VW to Dodge Neon 99-up a413 to have the most common case availibility and parts, but that cost alot, need to found out if the a404 case can be made to be as strong as the a413, with same welding done..
They should be identical as far as strength in the pinion area, and that is the only part that breaks.
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
It has been a long time and I don't have my reference material with me, but I recall the pinion area of the A404 as being different. The A404 had separate sumps for the differential and transmission area and the A413/A670 has a common sump. I remember the A404 being sealed in the pinion area although I don't know if it was stronger or not. With more material in that area, it well may be.
I would use the A404 case on the VW as it is a bolt in. The A404/A413 is a cheap (relative) and easy build. Have a spare or two. Look into using the (custom) Chrysler 904 style input shaft and have a (custom) torque converter built for it (GM core). Next in line would be a set of (custom) side gears.
Best of luck and on a nice car.

thanks for the help, yeah i saw that billet side gear, nice piece
Now where to buy the internal clutches, seen here alto does not make it anymore? where is a good place to buy everything i need
Can't help you on the clutches. I have always used stock style replacement made by B/Warner or Raybestos. And I have never made power any were near your level.
My 2 cents:
I would set all clearances on the tight side of factory spec's including the end play and diff bearing pre-load. Third gear clutch I set to .008" to .010" per clutch. Some here on this list like to use the thinner steels from the A404 for third. I don't like them, they were made for the lower HP N/A motors. The steels need to absorb the heat from the shift. For more room for another clutch, move the snap ring up a little and surface grind a little off the last thick retaining steel. A thinner A404 steel can be used at the top of the stack between the last two clutches to gain a little more clearance if needed as this last clutch does the least work in the stack. I would never use the thinner steels between the first two or three clutches, counting from the apply piston.
Hope this helps.

I've only used stock Raybesto's replacements, use the A404's in the 3rd gear clutch and never found a way to fit more in the 1-2 clutch, I tried Carl's way but I would break something in the clutch that I machined so I gave up. I set them on the tight side and I've never burned a clutch out but I am not running the power level you are but its also driven everyday, so that's pretty hard on clutch's.

the companies i was getting them from would not use bus service, if it was not a junkward yeah would make sense.
