91 568 Diff bearing PN and Input Shaft bearing questions

Anyone have the Differential bearing part # and where they get them. Dealer? Also it seems like the input shaft bearing is a little loose. It doesn't look bad but the end play seems a bit much. I need to get a dial indicator and measure it to find out where it is but I'd guess 8-10 thou. What should it be? It would probably be a good idea to replace it anyway so does anyone have the PN for that bearing also? I'm also installing a OBX and read somewhere I should pick up a set of shims to set the preload but I can't find the post with the part #'s.

Differential bearings are a timken Set-11. Input shaft bearings are Set-4 for the front and Set-5 for the rear (replace both). Napa, autozone, rockauto ect. Input shaft end play is 2 thousands, some set it to zero.
    Sonnax 39539-Z5 for the differential.

Re: 91 568 Diff bearing PN and Input Shaft bearing questions

I was able to get the set 4 and set 5 but not the set 11. I tried autozone and napa. The lady at napa didn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed and the guy at autozone couldn't look it up unless it was listed under a specific car. Looking up my car showed a set 4, 5, and 17. Any other locations to get them? I'm going to give the bearing place we use at work a call and see if they can get it. I was hoping to find it locally but if I have to order it I will.

Looking on their website I found them under differential. It's funny they don't include that in the transmission section. I'll have to take another trip to the parts store.

    napa # is BRG BR11
autozone only sells timken and if they couldnt find it... then they are truly retarded.

I have the input shaft bearings installed and am measuring 7thou end play. Where are you guys getting the shims for the input shaft? I ordered a set for the diff but didn't think about needing them for the input shaft.

5 should get me to 2 which is the spec but some say to set it to 0 so then 7. I'm thinking 5,6 or 7 thou should work.

ill have to grab the dial indicator and check mine out before i put the trans in.

i have a few 523's and a 568, ill grab all the shims and see what thicknesses i have to keep mine a little tighter for now.

If you know the thickness of the original then add whatever additional thickness you want
you could look and see if theres a shim of that thickness still available.

Went to the dealer and they are available. 3 bucks or so each. I ordered a few different sizes, they should be in on Wednesday.

Re: 91 568 Diff bearing PN and Input Shaft bearing questions

Got the shims in and everything looks good. I need to pick up the sealer to put it back together. The manual lists loctite 518. It looks like it would be something that would typically be stocked at most parts stores. I haven't found the loctite specific brand but the permatex brand part # is listed as 51813 which would make me believe it is pretty much the same thing. Any anaerobic sealer will work right?
