    6-puck clutch info needed

Hi, I have a 6-puck TU Stage 2 Blue kit and I need some info on installing it.

    1. How should my flywheel be ground? Fine or Course?

    2. What's the break in procedure?

    3. How do I "confirm that your input shaft bearing is not worn and within factory tolerances" ?

    Thanks!

You can grab the input shaft splined portion and try to rock it side-side, top-bottom and in-out movement. It should have hardly any movement and not feel any clunking or knocking around.

The 'right way' to measure end play involves taking the intermediate shaft out and then putting it back together with just the input shaft installed so its not meshed with the other gears giving false readings. I used 5th gear as the measuring spot for the dial indicator.

    Thanks for the info.

I really need no 1 & 3 questions answered as well. Surely someone here knows.

I asked TU Chris 2-3 times and never received a reply. Standard information like that should be available right on the website.

The only thing I could find out, was through an email I got from Gary Donovan back in 2k4...stating that a fine grind would be best for racing, however that was for an organic clutch.

I also found out that a ceramic clutch requires a 400-500mile breakin, however others said just to let it slip a little and it would be good to go.

I'd prefer to do it right though. Car should be streetable. Thanks

It isn't the milage that breaks them in. It's the number of engagements. The rule of thumb is about 500 miles of CITY type driving. This typically will be around the amount of engagements needed to propperly wear the PP, disc, and FW to each other.

Nothing wrong with my phone... just the fact that he's so far away. Then again it could be Bell.

    1 - shouldn't matter as long as its non-directional

2 - Talk to TU, every clutch manufacturer recommend something different.

    3 - 135sohc cover this perfectly

Not always true. Maybe for a stock clutch this will work well, but not needed for many clutch options. RPS Turboclutch's race clutches come with a note that says to break them in hard, as they are race car parts. My ACT was well broken in the first trip to the strip. all different...

As mentioned above, talk to the vendor or manufacturer of a clutch to see what they recommend
