I am setting up my 8V head with PT lifters and want to know what the correct preload should be. I know two .061" washers is the rule of thumb, but with differing valve tip heights, etc. each setup can vary. What would be the "ideal"? .005"? .010"?

Would the ideal lash be in the middle of the travel? So if the HLA has .080" of travel you'd be shooting for .040" of preload? I bought the pt's and washers from Pope and they seem to work fine. My understanding is the two .061" washers puts the pt at the same height as a stock one.
i put just enough preload on them, that u can still move and play with the rocker by hand.....basically just enough to hold it in there. i havent spit any rockers in years.....5 to 10 thous should be plenty
I think Todd posted up the specs but if you have a lifter with no oil, measure the travel, then say set it for 1/3 of that. We set SBC's at 0 load then 1/2 a turn on the nut.
