so I'm getting this weird noise, it sounds kind of like a fast vibration. It only happens at over 4k rpm and when I'm more than half throttle. The noise increases with higher rpms or more throttle. I'm thinking its something in the valvetrain. I'm gonna clean up my lifters and see if that makes any difference.
Any other ideas?

Sure it's from the motor and not the alt or PS pump crapping out?

I cleaned out the lifters. Everything looked good in the valve train. No difference. It is very possible its coming from the alt or ps pump. I guess I'll take a ride with the belts off. I took a video, I'll post it up when I get a chance.

Doesn't sound like anything bad from what you are saying.
I have actually had an exhaust leak that sounded like piston slap before. Stupid cars.

ran it with no belt and the noise is still there. I looked at the video and you can't really hear the noise. Mentioning exhaust, it might be coming form my EGR blockoff plate. The noise sounds like its coming more from the pass side tho.

Waterpump, cam tensioner... check for seeping coolant.

The more I think about it the more I'm almost ready to put money on it being the waterpump vanes rattling off the block. When you load up the motor, the cambelt pulls tight, pulls on waterpump, worn bearing lets it go off center, vanes hit block. One of maybe three things happen after that... waterpump gets loose enough to wedge up and strip or break the cambelt. Or vanes go loose on shaft from the impacts, resulting in poor cooling, apparent erratic cooling, as the shaft grabs and doesn't, and slips at higher engine speeds, then maybe if you don't get the clue still yet, the shaft pulls out and the pulley drops off, or moves enough to throw belt. Or thirdly, the bearing can get messed up enough to sieze when it cools off, or let the belt tension pull it really askew while parked, resulting in motor apparently being locked up.
A further clue to this happening is if you look at the radiator cap and it's got brass speckles on it underneath.

When its frozen you can at least use a propane torch to free it up

Yeh, im thinking timing belt tensioner or water pump as well, going off what info you have to give..

Fun, I did the timing belt about 18 months ago. I replaced the tensioner, but didn't replace the water pump.

water pump seems like a much more important thing to take care of then the pulley. I have not seen a bad pulley though I am sure there are people who have.

i havent seen one on a 3.0 but ive seen them go bad to the point of spitting the bearings out, and those things can make a mess if they get stuck between a timing gear and a hard place..

I had some cheap chinese junk bearing do that on my Escort, not pretty. Spit bearings that is, there wasn't any domino effect damage.

I jacked up the car preparing to change the water pump and noticed that my front engine mount bracket is split. It looks like I lost the lowest starter bolt that goes through the engine mount bracket, and lower part of the bracket on the engine side split. Guess I'll grab one from the JY tomorrow and see what that does for the noise.

What did you do though, ram a dirt bank? looks like it.
I broke the one on my Voyager, auto mount though, don't know how or when. Axles were already noisy (Crappy reman) at that time so didn't associate more/less noise with it.

I park it in the yard sometimes, I usually hit the yard going a bit faster than I should be lol.
How would I test the axles? I have an extra set in the attic.
Is there a difference between auto and manual mounts? This car was an auto I converted to a 5 speed, and I think I used the same front mount. I did add the bobble strut.
