    135's 94 Shadow

    Trying this again..
Little background on this car. Born on Feb 2nd, 1994 in Sterling Heights MI, we bought it new in April 94 to replace the 81 or 82 (its been awhile ) Omni that my older sister smashed up pretty good. Its a 2.2/5spd so no notable 1/4 times...

This is an older picture from Jan/Feb of 08. Not much has changed except its interior has been reinstalled and the awesome Maaco spray job has fogged over on the horizontal surfaces.

One headgasket replacement in march 08 @ 230,000 miles and the valve stem seals last year is the most its ever been opened up internally.

Next week if the delivery truck and weather gods cooperate I'll be dropping the original 523 out and putting in its place a serviced 568 as a 'temporary' stand-in while the 523 is gone through and throughly rebuilt as its getting a bit of bearing noise when coasting at higher speeds. Couple snap shots of the 568 servicing in progress

Current mileage is 256,000. It just keeps going and I dont plan to stop it until its ready for a new upgraded powertrain.

Long term plans include building a modernized 2.2 to replace the original TBI engine. As sort of a back burner project I've been slowly collecting up lots of 'choice' engine parts including many long discontinued Mopar performance goodies, lots of NOS mopar engine components and some well known aftermarket engine parts.

interesting build. Looking forward to see the progress. Why are you not just leaving the 568 in it?

As a whole the 523 is just a better match for my liking. The gear train is in much better condition because it hasnt been beaten on or abused and for originality.

Fedex just dropped off my clutch set. Made in Mexico, I'll take that over the chinese one installed now.

Wow, all the trans tools and the timing window piece to go with them. Impressive.

Wow, no kidding. Is that just there to lock the bolt in place?

I've got a few of the timing window pieces lying around. I think I may have pitched my dampeners though.

    Re: 135's 94 Shadow

Not looking so good. Went for the first test drive and in 2-3 I get a nice whirring sound, hmm.... Either the input shaft or the differential wasnt shimmed right I guess. 3rd gear as I suspected is going to be a b!tch, since some retard decided to at one point to just powershift and smash it into 3rd on a regular basis the synchro dogs on the gear were rough.

Drive it til it blows is the plan now
