    Smec I.d??

how could i tell what smec i have? reason why i ask was because i bought T2 smec to replace my T1 smec on my car. Turns out i already had a T2 SMEC?!?!?!? this car is an odd ball as turbovanman is witness to

anyways since then i went to the basement to find the T2 SMEC i bought a while back. So my question is, is there sapposed to be some kind of ID number on it somewhere cause i cant see anything?

there should be a peice of paper with numbers printed on it. Most are barely legible by now. If that is not there, ??? since the same computer could be programed for different engines.

if you have acess to a burner, you could read the chip and compare it to a stock cal with d-cal or chem.

You should be able to ID you computer by P/N, the last 3 numbers of the P/N are on the eprom chip in the logic board. I got a service part T2 computer from a 89 Shelby daytona with a P/N P4532132 which didn,t match any numbers I found for a T2 cal. Posted a question about the P/N + was told it was a foctory service part replacement. My scanner did verify it was indeed a T2 cal.

Pop the computer apart. There is a silver sticker with 3 no#s on it on the lower left corner. This sticker is on the chip. Those numbers will be your answer when you tell us what they are.....

If I am not mistaken they should both be SMEC, and it would most likly work if it is the same body style as was mentioned by Butch.

    88 and 89 are 100% interchangeable. Just like 90 and 91..

ok, I took the computer, which I thought was a TII computer, out of my Daytona to get the number.

    What I got is : 5233244

The "244" is from the silver sticker on the chip inside the computer.

Can any one identify this ?

Yea I,m on that furom too, lhttp://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/D-Cal/files/ This site is D-Cal, you must register for it. look under data base for computer part numbers. Using a span-on scanner programed for a T2 on a T1 computer will give you a code for the ACT sensor, I,ve learned this from experiance. On the wiring harness pin location, the only differance between the T1 + T2 is the signal wire for the ACT which the T2 has and the T1 doesn,t. All that is nessesary to convert a T1 harrness to T2 is to run wires for the ACT signal + grd.

Or you can have the flag for the charge temp turned off. Then you won't get the check engine/power loss light anymore.
