    Advice with possible purchase

Im looking at possibly buying this 91 daytona shelby, 2.5 turbo, auto trans. It has approx. 135k miles, little rust around the rear wheel wells. It hasnt been driven really in the past 2yrs. The paint is flakeing and needs work.
The only issue with the car is it idles fine but wont go much above 3k rpms. ?? any ideas ?
Im looking for me a project car to build off of. Is this a good candidate ? I know its a bummer to have the auto trans, is this something i can swap out easily ? Will the auto trans hold any power ? Being its a 2.5 what kind of mods can i do with it ?
oh yeah.. there asking 1000.00 obo for it.. is that a decent price ?
    thanks for any advice..
Heres some pics anyone know anything about this car ?

I found an 89' TII Daytona Shelby in a guy's driveway right before SDAC last year $600 and it was mine. Way better shape than the one you posted up. It's rough in spots but no crazy cancer except around the E brake hole.

Check out pics of it here to see what it looks like.

I would offer him scrap price and go from there. There are too many cars with no rust if you're willing to travel to give good money for that one.

Get something with NO rust. They're out there still.

my buddy has a real nice 90 ES (my old car) 70k mile car
has everything to do the 91 turbo motor, 5 speed swap, brake swap, k frame and gas tank
    its pretty damn clean
would be a much nicer project then this basket case
hes looking to sell, or trade for a t3 project...
