This should work on any Aries, Reliant, Lebaron K, 600, Caravelle, or New Yorker. I used this for 1 year, and it's still in great condition. I will also include the HD receiver. It works on wagons, sedans, coupes, and verts.

You should post a photo of it.

I will, I didn't have time yesterday. It's a DrawTight brand rebadged and sold through U-Haul. Comes with all the hardware, and longer bumper shock bolts. I paid $150 for it, plus another $20 or so for the HD reciever.

What is that white stuff? Salt?

As you can tell, I am interested. I just want to look tomorrow on how the frame is back there and how it will attach.

The "salt" is getting so deep it's coming in the cracks around the door. It was a pretty easy install on my 85 turbo wagon, and it worked well to haul all sorts of things, even a heavy U Haul tow dolly and an 89 Shelby Daytona. It's a nice HD piece that's rated for 3500 lbs.

I am interested too, can I get the real part number off it? Looks the same as the one for an AA body.

U-Haul Part# 36138. The one for an AA body is Part# 36136.

alright, thanks. Nevermind then. You have saved the R/T from the burden of towing lol.

Have a photo of the ends? The part that bolts to the car?

I think I want it!

I have that design on my Dynasty. I towed 3k+ lbs 3k miles with it.
however, i would keep in mind that that design probably cant take much tongue weight AT ALL. If you look at how it bolts to the body you'll see. It's not a problem with a tow dolly or a 4x8 utility trailer, although i did tow a trailer that was bigger than my car once, just didnt put anything in it.
I had to re-do my muffler when i installed the hitch. People should be aware of that too.
But i love having mine, its super useful to me.
Good luck with the sale!
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
I was thinking "SMALL" race car tire trailer.

I used it to pull a small 10x4 trailer with about 1500lbs of shingles and it handled it just fine. The tires on the trailer didn't fair as well. Luckily they held untill after I had the shingles out of the trailer.

that hitch must be more rugged than the class I i have on my k wagon which hangs from the bumper and spare tire well. this unit attaches to the frame rails directly...about the most rugged points on the back of a k car. nice to know they make a unit for the k body and not just the bigger a & c body platforms.
Could you send me a picture of that? I think id like to build one like that.that hitch must be more rugged than the class I i have on my k wagon which hangs from the bumper and spare tire well. this unit attaches to the frame rails directly...about the most rugged points on the back of a k car. nice to know they make a unit for the k body and not just the bigger a & c body platforms.
This one attaches where the 2 bolts on either side hold the bumper struts to the body. They are smallish bolts going into sheetmetal but i havent ripped mine off yet! Also, this same hitch WILL work on the a/c/y, i have mine on a Dynasty. The only difference i saw was that the receiver doesnt come to the end of the bumper, it is recessed/stealth which is even better.
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
the hitch on my 86 k wagon came off the 81 k wagon my parents had before it. it uses two holes factory punched in the bottom of the bumper and i had to drill 2 holes in the bottom of the spare tire well to mount it. i've seen this type on ebay before. i can't get you pics because the car is buried in snow and ice right now. but you can check out my pages on cardomain (capev86) for a view of the rear. it works fine, but that class 2 hitch is a better option for safety reasons. if you are going to build one yourself, have it attach to the frame rails like the one here, but shaped differently to clear the exhaust.
