Code 72 in 1998 Grand Voyager

This is the 3.0L Mitsu engine. It looks like this code is poor catalytic converter performance? So it could be the cat, or maybe the downstream O2 sensor or wiring? I have never really done much work on the van before, so I wanted to see if anybody has any experience with this.

If it does lots of short runs, take it for an "Italian tune up"

    Italian tune up, haha!!

Re: Code 72 in 1998 Grand Voyager

Eh. I cleared the code and went for some longer drives, but as soon as the catalyst monitor went out of "Incomplete" it tripped the code again. I watched the up- and downstream O2 readings while my wife drove for about 25 minutes, and it looks like the converter isn't working very well. While the downstream wasn't in sync with the upstream, it was jumping around quite a bit.

For a little while today, all three of my daily drivers had the check engine light on. :/ The SRT-4 cam sensor went out again, and I have an intermittent problem with the injector harness in the '89 CSX. Got a new cam sensor and wiggle the injector harness, so I'm down to just the light in the van again. I think I'll try putting the downstream sensor in a spark plug non-fouler, and see if that keeps it from tripping the code. I can't afford to replace the converter right now.
