    Question 89 2.5 turbo build help

    i am rebuilding my 89 2.5L turbo for my gtc and i need some help. A local performance engine shop is doing the bottom end like new. Its getting...

    -new head with mild porting
    -a bigger turbo (garrett T03, but i have heard those are hard to get)
    -3 inch exhaust
    -52mm tb
    -mild porting on both manifolds (one piece intake)
    -devils own injection
    -i have the daytona rad and ic with all the stock plumbing for it already
    -i was going to go for a bigger cam but the FM guys said that it might kick a roller follower out so thats a no go

    but...i am not sure if i should go for 18psi with stock cast pistons and the +20% injectors and a 2bar map or 15psi with 804's

    i am new at this so if i am missing anything let me know. i would really appreciate the help

    id do some +40's. that intercooler is gonna be your bottle neck. cast pistons arent the problem. knock is the problem. keep enough fuel in it and you shouldnt have a problem. oh and 3 bar it and tune it. get a socketed cal from rob (shel game) here on the forums. btw welcome!

    don't bother putting a 52mm TB onto the 1 piece. You won't see any gain doing it. Pretty sure the Garrett T03 is the stock Turbo2 or early T1 turbos. It's not so much the amount of boost it's that you don't want to have any detonation as the stock pistons won't hold up. To be sure of that I'd ditch the stock style I/C as it heat soaks easily and get yourself a front mount setup. A wideband A/F gauge is also a good idea to make sure you have plenty of fuel. But at 15-18psi you shouldn't need the Devils own kit.

    TII garretts are available, I might have one or check our for sale section.

    Get it balanced, get some ARP rod bolts and port the oil pump hole.

    Cast pistons should be ok but honestly, spend a few more bucks and go forged, piece of mind.

    Fuel pump, might consider getting the 255 if yours is original.

    I would get a 3bar and +40's then your set unless you go really big.

    Cam won't do much for you until you port the head, ex mani and find a 2 piece or heavily modify the one piece but find a TBI roller cam for a cheap upgrade that helps a bit.

    Get a Mopar head gasket and use any brand of bolts, they are all the same. Gasket number #P4452005

    Same advice on the rest as the other guys.
