    Stupid overlay tape!

So getting to the point where the 87 CSX is gonna get its stickers back. The only question i have is...... how in the world do you install the overlay tape? The front and rear bumpers definately need it replaced as it was "chipped" exposing both the chrome and red, however removing the chrome strip might have been the wrong move as i broke it in two trying to get it out of the bumper. This makes me dread the rest of the body molding. Help!

it may be to late now, but i just saw this, it seemed that when i did this i removed just the top layer of chipped tape to make a smooth base and then put new blue tape over it i believe on our car there was red tape layer and then the chrome but didn't remove the chrome and it looked as good as new when i was done

The new chrome pieces are still available if you removed yours, so you could replace the chrome and install the blue tape over it for a nice surface.

bumping it up from the dead.
in reality the front and rear bumper are the easy ones, it is the side molding i am worried about doing as the pieces are short.
So when you install it you dont "tuck" the tape on the sides? The blue tape that shelby installed looked as thought the strips were removed, taped and re-installed. so you just lay it down and trim?
