    555 shifter bushings

Does anyone know where I can get some shifter bushings for my 555 trans? I just had Jackson (lotsashelbys) make me a short throw shifter for my 87 Shelby-Z and the bushings were torn and literally fell apart when I took the shifter out. I know that Booger Bushings will not work with the 555 shifter so I'm hoping that someone can tell me where to go for a set.

Did you try our vendors? Martin Kohler? Polybushings? FWDP? TU?

I've tried a few of the venders. They basically look like washers but are made out of an odd type of rubber. They go in between the shifter pivot and the off-white holder (not sure how to explain it). I can get pics later of where they go. They are for inside the car where the cable connects to the shifter pivot point.

Just order a set for the 526/568 and use the inner bushings for the shifter on the 555? If so I'll order some right now!

Ah crap, these are the orange ones located inside the car at the base of the shifter. Looks like I'm going to have to go JY shopping .

    Re: 555 shifter bushings

The A555 uses the ball socket cable ends on the shifter. The orange bushings are just extra to keep the socket square on the ball but not needed to operate.

Awesome, thank you for the info. At least I know that I can get my interior back together without worrying about the "spacers".

    Re: 555 shifter bushings

i took some washers that were the same size O.D then drilled the center to go over the little center stud then i took my rubber bushings and cut the top off so that way it would hold the washers in. Its clunky but there is absolutely no play in the shifter at all works way way better best $2 mod ive ever done

    Re: 555 shifter bushings

Ive found people who used bolts in the JY on neons,
or i know the DSM guys use roller blade bearings
they got 4 of the same size, so one would not work if doing it on a 568
but the PB ones are good very little play and easy to use

    Re: 555 shifter bushings

I didn't think the little orange rings did anything? Figured they were just there to keep the dirt off the ball.

There is only 1 bushing on the 520/555 shifter cables, and the other 3 ends are ball/socket. The bushing used is the picture that Johnny has above.
