Question carbon fiber hoods for the dodge shadow, plymouth sundance and csx

hi everyone, would anyone be interested in a carbon fiber hood for the 89' to 94' model year p-body cars ? i sent an email to Vision Autodynamics and they said there would need to be a minimum of 20 for a group buy no word on prices yet

personally i don't care if its powerbulge or flat but it would probably have to be one or the other

p.s sorry moderators if this is in the wrong place, i'm still new to the site

Did they mention what the cost of a hood would be on a 20 piece group buy?

More importantly, are they lighter or just a replacement CF hood? I believe we've covered this topic before.

That's probably the best testament to work that I've seen yet. Offer an L-body one flat cleared, and I'm in.

Depending on price, I would be interested in either style of hood.

I'm not dissing the product in anyway but people should know that the hoods they make will be one, maybe two layers of CF and the rest will be FB. It will still be much lighter than a factory hood but I wouldn't want people thinking they are getting a true CF part. Chances are no one would fork out for a true CF part anyway which is why 98% of the hood manufacturers make them this way.

    Good points.

BTW, 22Shelby works at VFN and is already looking into hoods as well...

Yuck on a flat P body hood. Car already looks bad enough as it is.

ive got my mold about done for the bulge hood on a p body and going to make FG and CF for both mine to see which is actually lighter. im using 5 layers of prepreg for the FG and 5 for the CF. i work at a composites shop and they will all be made using our autoclave running 250 degrees at 35 psi. if anyone really is interested in any i will make them. im making the inner support mold now for them and this is taking the longest. im not able to touch it much as of now since weve been busy. the CF we have 2x2 twill which in my opinion looks the best and we also have 4x4 which is more brownish than black. im making these to be hinged and latched with pins. if anyone is interested in any other p body parts to be made let me know and we can work out a deal. im not sure on prices yet i will know when i make the first and figure the costs but should be fairly affordable.

Man, I only wish you were doing this for L-bodies! Great for the P-body crowd though!

Keep us updated. As soon as I saw that you were using the pre-impregnated stuff you piqued my interest.

yes i will keep everyone updated. all i have to use to make molds off of is pbodys since theres something about them that i love and have lots of spare parts to go off of. i think ive been in love with my 91 shadow ever since the day i seen it. i would like to get into L bodys as well but we rarely have any in the yards around here so i really have nothing to go off of. as soon as i get this hood project done im thinking about tackling the project of the hatch. i cannot believe how heavy they were until i had taken mine off to repaint the car. this will take much longer to do since there is so many curves and bends in it... if i ever do it. theres lots of things i would love to do but i can only do so much. i can skin parts with CF aswell if anyones interested. wont be a true CF part or lighten it any but sure does make it look cool. Them honda guys sure did like that since it was cheaper but looked just as good. got away from that croud when they all turned into teens with no money trying to trade "rims" and "subs" for CF skinned hoods. some guys sure do have a good sense of humor. haha.
