Some of us Masi guys don't know all the Masi hide outs yet
Jay, I've wondered this as well. Seems it only makes sense to bring it up here at T-M.com where TU is a Vendor not to mention this forum has a lot of enthusiasts that are into the 16v Maserati TC stuff (myself included).
My only guess is maybe in the past TU has brought new parts to the market in the past such as the 3" S/V, cast header, have brought criticism of price or whatever and then somebody finds the same thing cheaper somewhere else and then they let everybody know, and then people act like Chris is the bad guy for making a little profit. Look how fast the TU TIII +1 valves got shot down.
Maybe, sad though.
This is the first I've heard of this. I'd be in for a gasket.
Please check the AACA and new thread in the TU section for an important update.
Thanks!
Chris-TU

I totally just heard about this last night. Cool to see something like this happen for the masi guys.... T-III next?

T-3 crowd has a very inexpensive solution for gaskets.
GTFO!!! T3 guys not allowed j/k.

Seems to work though ? $40 for two sets of gaskets, $6 for a tube of rtv. Both items that will be available from now until forever. Do you really see this group willing to pay $100+ for a pair of gaskets that have a dirt cheap alternative already ?
another reason to stay 8valves: nice 1 piece silicone rubber gaskets are still less than $10 from mopar
I've done enough hijacking in this thread...
Well I'm trying to think of a few of the roadblocks I'm still facing for my Maserati related stuff (backburner project)...Few things come to mind if you don't mind some product suggestions.
1. timing belt. I know a few people are already actively looking into this but I have yet to hear of anything yet. I tried to order them on wholsalemopar.com because they were still listed in their catalog. Sure enough, they sent me an email after placing my order informing me that they are no longer available.
2. Manifolds, or at least a TU cast exhaust manifold? Would love to have something like the manifold here:
http://www.agpturbo.com/products/Cal...grade-Kit.html To me it looks like the cylinder head/exhaust manifold flange is so close that the mold wouldn't have to be changed all that much to make it work on the 16v head.
3. And I'm still hoping Lengel will make the other half of the thermostat housing.
4. Valve cover grommets/hardware?
OK, I'll stop now lol.
Timing belts have already been looked into and we will tackle that project if the VC gaskets work out. Other gaskets have also been sourced. We have a few additional items which are on the chalkboard, but, we're waiting to see how this item pans out first.
PLEASE don't stop providing ideas of what you need. Since we don't drive/repair these vehicles on a daily basis we don't know which products are becoming more difficult to find out there.

Maybe I'm 7 years too late, but if timing belts are an issue... is there a way to make stock 8v crank and cam gears work with some fabbing?

Steve, that is actually what the factory already did. The Masi cam gears are just regular old '974' square tooth cam gears with about .010" milled off the back side to clear the valve cover. The crank gear is Masi specific to that motor, but has the same 8v square tooth and same diameter just the offset and belt widths are different. So basically, it has to be pretty much an 8v timing belt but a lot longer. There are other people on the forum that know more about the finer details than I do, so if I'm wrong somebody feel free to chime in. I am by no means a Masi expert but I am super excited about doing something with all this stuff lying around.
Also unlike the TIII, there is no timing belt idler pulley, and the I-shaft gear is regular ol 8v gear (full diameter).
Then what i was thinking: if Simon's T-III ran an 8v round tooth gear on his intermediate shaft sprocket w/no issue, could you run a T-III belt on the masi with the 8v round tooth sprockets and crank gear? Not sure I would want to try to find out at 8,000rpms and have it skip a tooth and crash valves (not sure if the masi is interference or not... assuming ... no.)
And the 8v roundtooth profile has been done via fidanza for their gears.... so maybe there are other round tooth belts out there longer for the dohc length?

Interesting, never thought of that approach... I suppose you could just have some round tooth cam sprockets milled a little thinner like the factory did, use another 8v round tooth sprocket on the I-shaft, and continue to use the Masi timing belt tensioner (or a modded 8v tensioner). Then comes the crank sprocket. All the Masi 16v engines were square tooth, even the later common block versions. But maybe you could make a TIII crank gear work....although that only would apply to the common block versions since you can't put the TIII crank gear on an early crank.
it's actually .100" taken off, not .010
I don't know the snout differences, but I assume the early snouts are even smaller? (crap... just tossed one out 2 days ago...)
If so, you could even make a sleeve.... or bore the ID of the gear out larger so you could install a larger wall thickness sleeve.
Use 8v round tooth pattern * tooth profile* belt from another application.... or use a T-III belt. (or have simon's connection make cam gears for the T-III belt)
