    '89 Plymouth Voyager 2.5 Turbo 5-speed

I really need something I can trust towing 6 hours with; I just don't think the van is going to cut it. It's a shame, because I really love driving it. But, I don't have the room/money for 2 daily drivers. So, it has to go.

This is an '89 Voyager that was originally a TBI/5-speed. I converted it to turbo with an '89 Turbo mini harness.

    - 156k on the odo
    - Maroon in/out
    - 17" Dynamics racing forged wheels ($800 when they were new)
    - Front seats are the sport buckets from an '89 Sundance RS (matching maroon)
    - single rear bench seat
    - CV front headlights

Here's what's been done to the van. If you want a ton more info about the build, check out my project log for it here.

The following was done last year when I put it on the road:

    - Rebuilt engine; I used a the best parts I had on my shelf to build up the 2.5 turbo shortblock. Stock size pistons (Mahle), T2 rods, new rings, new seals, bearings, etc. Honed the cylinders.
    - rebuilt head (by my machine shop), 3-angle valve job, new guides, new seals, hottanked, etc.
    - stock turbo cam
    - PT lifters/shims (valvetrain is very quiet)
    - stock 1-pc intake and throttle body
    - stock T2 injectors
    - T2 Garret turbo
    - Daytona radiator/IC/fan/airfilter setup
    - A/C condensor from P-Body
    - A523 Large Spine from '90's P-Body
    - Shifter from '90's P-Body (with Booger Bushings)
    - Shifter cables are combo of P-body/Daytona
    - New front wheel bearings
    - New front brakes (pads and rotors)
    - New front Daytona struts (using minivan springs cut 1 coil to lower it)
    - De-arched rear springs + 1" lift blocks to get the height correct
    - new air shocks on the rear
    - new rear brakes (these were just done in September; new park brake cables and hardware, too)
    - replaced the hood with a matching, non-peeling hood (have front fenders, too)
    - new PB sway bar bushings
    - new T3 clutch and PP, new throw out bearing
    - new motor mounts (MP, not PB)
    - 3" downpipe going into a Superflow 40 series, dual side exits (pretty loud, actually)
    - upholstered headliner
    - 'oldshcool' flashable SMEC and USB cable

Basically, everything on this van works as it should. I have driven it to work everyday for the past year or so, 25miles each way. I have about 12k miles on the rebuild. It has only let me down once, when the main ground wire for the body came loose. It runs great, very strong. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. I just can't tow 5k lbs with it. Which really isn't too much of a shock to me.

The only rust on it is on the pass side fender just behind the slider. I bought the spare fenders to use as a patch panel for it, just didn't get to it before winter set in. The paint on the roof is faded and there is some light surface rust up there. No major dents or damage.

Asking $2k obo, located in Whitmore Lake, MI just north of Ann Arbor. Looking to get a '93-95 Grand Cherokee to replace it with. So, I'm open to trades.

What class would it run in and have you made a pass down the track in it?
The guy that works on my SRT4 was thinking of getting a mini that has a turbo. I'll send him the link to this!

C or D/FS. But, it wouldn't be stock legal with the Garret and IC. I do have a used Mitsu I could include if it helps make the sale I have not made a pass in it. Didn't want to risk hurting my daily driver. Besides, any time I get to go to the track, I take the race car...

Since I am not a wrench and would be in real deep dodo if I was to go through a NHRA tear down I wouldn't be class racing, but was just interested in which class. How much would you charge to stick that motor and electronics into old Matchbox...it already has the newer automatic from a turbo in it. You might not have the time!

What kind of MPG do you get with it? How are the tires? heat and a/c working properly? A/c holding charge? Does it have cruise?

I get 20-24mpg, depending on how 'nice' I am to the throttle pedal. Usually, that means closer to 20 mpg.

It will need tires soon. I was going to get some (more) used tires off of Craigslist. But, decided I wanted a Grand Cherokee instead. A/C is holding a charge and works. Doesn't blow that cold so I don't think I got all that good of a charge in it when I charged it (did it myself). It has all the wiring, stalk, and actuator for cruise, but the actuator is out. I have it in a box of spares. It was originally a TBI van, so the cable end on the actuator isn't correct for the turbo throttle body.

19yo girl in the middle lane lost control, and t-boned me at 65-70mph. Nealry pushed me off into the ditch. Somehow I missed that, and then ended up facing the wrong way in the center median. It still runs and drives, I drove it home. Drivers side middle window is busted out, so it was a cold driver home.

You might be able to get more out of it with insurance. The NADA high book value is $4800 for a base model 89 Voyager. Average retail is $3725, with a low retail of $2250.
