    Blast. D/R window inop.

Well it finally happened. The driver rear window now has a problem. I don't know if it just came off the tracks or something else. I think that's all it did because I can hear the regulator spinning and of course it has power.

So how would I go about fixing this? Never touched one before.

    Thanks,
    -Bryan

Just an update. I talked to a tech. at my work (he's the shop foreman) and he said it could be the regulator or motor. He suggested to get a combo. - regulator and motor.

Is the window up or down? If up and it isn't moving. Then possibly the regulator/motor. If down, then possibly just off the tracks. I would just start taking the door panel off and take a look inside. You will have to do that to fix it anyway. Probably a good time to clean everything up in there and re-grease the moving parts.

It rolls down fine and dandy. It wont roll back up.

How much will the regulator/motor combo run me up?

You can get just the plastic regulator from the HELP! section at the parts store. Mine snapped in two, and the window wouldn't roll up. I think the first time you have to work on the windows, you have to drill out the rivits. Just replace them with nuts and bolts. Not a terrible job, but the rivits can be a bit of a PITA!

Might want to re-read what ya wrote there... if the motor is spinning, you probably do not need one.

the regulator is pretty easy to do

No offense, but he must be the kinda tech that likes to throw parts at problems instead of diagnosing them properly.

Yes, the motor could be broken, but it is waaaay easier to just replace just the regulator. Just take the door panel off and look for the broken regulator strap.

dave the strap is less than 18.00 at mopar dealer. cut to fit . we fix 3 or 4 of mine and with 2 guys can slide it down in there you only have to remove the door panal and one bolt that holds the top of the track. then lube it up and slide it in. the paper that come with it will give you the right spot to cut. ya beeing the only t/m guy on the steet sucks. and aother note have you seen the tercell with the wrx hood. it,s turbo black two door we work on it at work to day , when i looked under the hood i could not beleave it. had 2/1/2 pipe off the turbo then back to the o/e cat to a fart can i don,t know how it breeathes. Geeze, power windows SUCK! Another reason I'm glad to be rid of the daytona and now have a turbo mini with manual windows...My brother has a 94 Cavalier Z-24 convertable. He just failed NJ inspection because his "driver window is inoperable" It was slow for the longest time, now it stopped. We greased the track, cleaned the electrical contact (getting 12.5 volts to the plug) So I guess now he has to buy another motor from the dealer ($180) to pass the stupid inspection....ahh well....sorry for jackin this thread

    Re: Blast. D/R window inop.

So I attempted taking the panel off today. I got both sides and the bottom unpinned, but I can't seem to figure out how to get the top loose.

I unscrewed the screw that sits in the door handel, but I don't see anything else. I even tried pushing up on it and still no budge.

I'll have that tech. take a peak at it tomorrow morning.

Okay I got the panel unhinged, it's still attached at the top. I said eff it and just left it in, but I can get to the regulator.

I looked inside and I have zero clue of what I'm looking at/for. The tech. here said take the regulator out. Problem is that it's held in with the pop-rivets. Oh well, screw them out I guess. But what a pita.

    Ugh, okay so what now?

Yeah, not sure what you mean by "screw them out"...Rivits have to be drilled out and can be a pita, but just replace them with machine screws and nuts
