It was stated on another list our hood vents are made of plastic. Is this true. Any I have ever handled seemed more like aluminum.

I believe they are a thermoset plastic (one time melt) so they hold their shape in the presence of heat very well. The thermoset plastic is very dense so the vents are surprisingly heavy for their size.

are u talking about the the GLH hood vent, i believe its fiberglass, id have to look again, but it seemed to be FG judging by the chunks taken out of mine
yes the hood vents are made of compressed fiberglass, that is why they are fairly heavy.
