    92 Shadow tailight problem

I'm trying to figure out why my taillights are so dim you can barely see them and the turn signal won't blink when applied? Does anyone know if they have one or two relays for the rear lights, and has anyone,I'm sure they have, endured this problem with theirs?

    Re: 92 Shadow tailight problem

Usually this is a ground issue in the socket. The ground wire just clips into the socket and has a spring loaded tab that makes contact with the shell of the socket. Most often there is corrosion and pitting where the ground makes contact.

Sometimes you can clean it and stretch the tab to get a better connection, but I've had the most success just soldering the ground wire right to the shell inside the socket.

A new socket is another option, last I knew you could still get aftermarket ones for a few $.

Well, the taillight problem is cured! Thanks to Al,( 5-spd mini),we put in new sockets, and still had the problem. Then we had a epiphany.A nail jammed in the ground side of each socket and MINT!

yea mine was wasted, had to keep the wire tight to get a good ground. i think i had my tool box up against it to keep contact on the bulb. funny how that happens, must be pretty common then.

I've always used cotter pins. Insert, twist for an awesome connection, clip flush. done.
