What kind of noise will worn main bearings make? I've had so much rattle from too much piston clearance on my Venolias that I have kinda tuned it out, but now it's noticeably louder. It's a pretty steady whack, whack, whack noise and seems to come from down low around number two cylinder. Any guesses?

Pull the pan and inspect the rod bearings .

I have allways heard a doulble knock only because with the mains spun the rod bearing got taken out do to lack of oil to the rods.
Spun?! That sounds real bad. I'll hope not on that one. Pan comes off Saturday so I'll soon know. Thanks!
