Holset vgt controller

Is there a standalone controller available anywhere? I got this holset off of a 07ish ram 5500 for free. The damn turbine housing is ginormous.

A big a$$ turbo. Simon, got any links to using an external wastegate? I found a link to a thread on a dsm forum but the pictures of how to mount the wastegate were dead. Somehow I don't think this thing will be easy to mount in the omni haha.

You ain't shitting me. I just pulled it out of the truck today. I think the old hammer will be getting acquainted with the firewall for this one.

homemade turbo is one website with the info, but I think Dick pee pee took that over so they made another one.

If you really do that be careful. Our firewalls tend to crack even before people go beating on them...

They're physically huge, but that's about it. The compressor wheel is the same as HE351, which is in fact, a super HX40 wheel.

But the turbine a/r is infinitely adjustable from something like 5 cm to 24 cm. I'll look at my new diesel mag tonight, they put a VGT on a older ram using the Fleece Controller.

I saw a youtube vid of one with the controller. It was spooling the turbo at idle.

That's good to know. If something like that happens I will weld it up or something. This thing is going to be beer canned with just a seat, shifter and dashboard.

We need videos of it in operation. I've seen the one from HMT or wherever it was posted, but I'd like to see it in operation, even on the bench.

Am I the only one who thought the turbo was cool but took a step back hearing how much it weighs? I had thought about an eventual TT project using them but 100 pounds of turbos is pretty disgusting If my engine weighs only 350.

On an 8000 pound truck, maybe not such a huge problem.
