    Wheel offset for wide slicks?

You all that run large slicks....what are their width and what offset rims do you use. The reason I am asking is that some NA Honda guys that run in the 10s with no turbo or nitrous gave me a near new set of slicks that are 22.5x9.5x13 that I plan on using on Matchbox. I think I can use some 0 offset rims that have my 4x100 bolt pattern, but I want to see what some of you guys with the 15s use. I have a wheel company that can make 13x8 in almost any offset for a bit over $80 each my cost!

9.5.... damn thats wide. I run 8.5's on an 8" wheel with 5.25 backspacing. If that helps.

With the small diameter all you will really need to worry about is hitting the inside. Lots of guys with 22's let them stick WAY out because they don't really about a perfect rim as long as the slicks go on.

I think you would be fine with an 8" rim

are you going to be running coilover sleves and springs with the spring perch cut off stock strut, or just stock struts and springs?

Re: Wheel offset for wide slicks?

I will still be using the stock suspension and still driving to the track with TALL 185x80x13s to not rev the crap out of it and get better mpg...it uses a minivan speedometer gear si its decently accurate.

Comparing a 8.5 inch tire on a 5.25 backspace to a 9.5 inch tire on the same rim would be like going from a 215mm wide tire to 245mm. My calculations show that on my car and while using the rim you have my inside clearance to the strut would be the same as it is now and using your rims with the 9.5 inch wide slick would only cut the clearance by .3"...should be okay. I am guessing that your rims are around 17-18mm+ offset. I was thinking of going with zero offset to move them out a bit further yet, just in case. My cals also show that using my 9.5 tires on your rim would have the outside of the tires stick out 2.1 inches more than my current rim/tire package while the zero offset rim would move it out to 2.8 inches more than my current set up. Looks like I might go with a 12mm+ offset as a happy medium of a 5 inch offset and the 9.5s would stick in only .1 more than my current set up and stick out 2.3 inches.

Anyone else running a different offset with big slicks?

Doesn't matter with a 22" slick. Coilovers don't help with inside clearance, just tire diameter.

Angelo, you have to make sure you are accounting for section width.
    22x8x13" MT's have a 9.2" sidewall. a 9.5" could be 10.5-11" wide at the sidewall

What brand are these 9.5" wide slicks?

These are M/T slicks....the sidewall width is another reason that I thought about a 0 offset rim to move every thing outwards more.
