Sinse you already have it apart, count and calculate the gear ratios.
a-520 1st= 3.29 .....2nd=2.08.....3rd=1.45.....4th-1.04......5th=.72 differential is usually 3.55:1
a-555 1st=3.00.....2nd=1.89......3rd=1.28.......4th=.94. ....5th-.72 differential ratio of 3.85:1
So that should tell you what you have there.
It looks to be a A555 with a 3.85 FD ring gear is 50T and pin is 13T=3.846 whats got me confused is the date on the tag and how the 5th gear is attached. is it a mini van transmission or ? looks like 87-88 guts. I'm kinda of new to these transmissions.
thanks for the input
Looks like the tag is accurate, and so it was built in 90... I haven't dissected enough 5-speeds to notice anything beyond obvious wear, so....
Mike
PS Seems like 3.85 is a pretty aggressive gear, what did it come out of? Might be nice on a car with 17s or tall slicks, it would bring the gearing back in-line...

89 A555 uses a nut and a c-clip at the end of the shaft.
87-88 A555 uses two c-clip at the end of the shaft.
89 Minivan uses 87-88 style A555.
Your is probably a warranty unit made in A555 for a Minivan.
I had one of these in my Daytona, and I thought warranty unit as well.
1990 date
Looks like 555 gears to me.
That is definitely the 555 coarse cut gearset. Looks normal to me. Date leads me to believe it was a service or warranty replacement unit like has been said before.
